This invention relates to a bracelet which may be at times worn on a persons wrist, and more particularly to a bracelet having a mirror mounted thereon.

The object of the invention is to provide a bracelet which has a mirror mounted thereon, the bracelet having a pair of bands that are adapted to engage the wearers wrist when the bracelet is being worn on the wrist, said bands providing supporting legs when the bracelet is not mounted on the personss wrist.

Another object of the invention is to provide a bracelet which serves to support a mirror thereon, the mirror adapted to be used by ladies when applying makeup or the like, the bracelet being small and compact and adapted to be folded up and carried in the purse when not being used, the device of the present invention being constructed so that it can be worn on the wrist with the cover closed, or it can be used as a makeup mirror with the cover open, there being a means provided for preventing accidental opening of the cover, the bracelet of the present invention being highly attractive and ornamental.

A further object of the invention is to provide a bracelet mirror which is extremely simple and inexpensive to manufacture.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.

In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application, and in which like numerals are used to designate like parts throughout the same:

Figure 1 is a top plan View of the bracelet mirror constructed according to the present invention, and with the cover opened;

Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1, and with the cover open;

Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary elevational view showing the locking mechanism;

Figure 4 is an enlarged fragmentary elevational view showing the stop means for one of the bands;

Figure 5 is an enlarged fragmentary view showing certain constructional details of the device;

Figure 6 is a fragmentary perspective view showing certain constructional details of the bracelet mirror.

Referring in detail to the drawings, the numeral l0 designates a rectangular platform or base which may be fabricated of any suitable material, such as plastic. A band or leg H is hingedly connected to one side of the base It, Figure 2, and the lower portion [2 of the band II is relatively wide so that the device of the present invention can be conveniently supported on a table or other supporting structure. The free end of the band H is cut away or provided with a slot l4, and the slot [4 defines a finger I5. Engaged about the finger I5 is a portion of a fiexible strap 16. The portionof the strap 16 extending around the finger may be secured to the main portion of the strap in any suitable manner, as for example, by means of a rivet [1. The flexible strap [6 is further provided with a plurality of female eyelets I8, and arranged on the free ends of the strap 16 is a male catch or eyelet l9.

The bracelet mirror assembly of the present invention further includes a second band or leg 22, the pair of bands II and 22 each being arcuately shaped so that such bands can be comfortably or conveniently worn on the users wrist. The lower or free end of the band 22 is widened, as at 23, Figure 1, and there is provided a slot 26 in the band 22. The slot 20 defines a finger 2|, and when the bracelet'is being worn on the wrist, the free end of the strap [6 is adapted to be projected through the slot 20. Then, the catch 19 can be arranged in engagement with one of the eyelets l8, so that the bracelet will not accidentally disengage from the wearers wrist.

Referring to Figure 3, there is shown the means by which the band II is pivotally or hingedly connected to the base If). Thus, a sleeve 24 is formed integrally with or secured to one longitudinal edge of the base I 0, and the sleeve 24 projects into a cutout 25 that is formed in the upper end of the band II. A stop lug 26 extends from the sleeve 24, and the lug 26 is adapted to be engaged by a portion of the band II for limiting outward swinging movement of the band ll.

Formed integrally with the base It, or secured thereto, is a lip 21 which is adapted to engage a protuberance 28 that is formed on a cover 29. The cover 29 may be provided with a, suitable ornamental design on its upper exterior surface, as shown in dotted lines in Figure 1, and the cover 29 includes a rectangular frame 30 which is hingedly connected to the base Ill. The frame 30 includes a rectangular flange 3| that is arranged around the exterior surface of a mirror 32. A lip 33 projects from the free longitudinal edge of the frame 30, and the lip 33 provides a means that is adapted to be engaged by the users finger when the cover 29 is to be opened.

A pin 34 extends through portions of the band I I and through the sleeve 24, Figure 3, the pin 34 providing a pivotal or hinged connection between the band II and base Ill. The hinge connection between the base, cover 29 and band 22 is shown in detail in Figure 4. Thus, a pin 35 extends through a collar 3'! which is formed integrally with the frame 30. The ends of the pin 35 are journaled in cars 36 which are formed integrally with or secured to the base I0. A sleeve 39 extends from the base H1 or is secured thereto, while formed integrally with the sleeve 39 is a stop lug 38. The lug 38 is adapted to be engaged by a portion of the band 22, so as to limit outward swinging movement of the band 22. A pin 49 extends through portions of the band 22 and through the sleeve 39, so as to efiect a pivotal connection between the base In and band 22.

In use, the bracelet of the present invention can be worn on the wrist by arranging the bands H and 22 so that they straddle the user's wrist. When the bracelet is worn on the wrist, the cover 29 can be closed. To close the cover 29, the cover 29 is swung in a counterclockwise direction, Figure 2, so that the latch 2"! engages the protuberonce 28. Thus, the cover 29 will be maintained in locked position, so that accidental opening thereof will be prevented. When the cover is is to be opened, the person can engage the car 33 with his or her finger to thereby swing the cover 29 to the position shown in Figures 1 and 2'. When the bracelet is not worn on the persons wrist, it can be supported on a table or any other object by means of the bands H and 22. Further, the

Also, the bracelet makeup of the present invention can be folded up so that it will occupy a small space, whereby it can be conveniently carried ina ladys purse or pocket. When the cover 29 is in open position, as shown in Figures 1 and 2, the mirror 32 will enablethe lady to conveniently apply her makeup or the like. Further, various decorations or designs of artistic configuration can be arranged on the exterior of the base l and cover 29. Also, the bracelets can be worn on the wrist when the person is at the beach 4 in bathing or swimming, and the motion of the arms will not accidentally open the cover. Further, the bracelet may he made of any suitable material, such as plastic, and suitable decalcomania can be arranged thereon. The wings or wide portions of the bands H and 22 insure that the bracelet will stand up, as shown in Figure 2, and insure that the device will not accidentally topple over when it is not being borne on the wrist. The bands are curved so that they comfortably lit the persons wrist. The size of the parts can be varied as desired, and the parts, such as the base 10, can be made in other shapes beside's rectangular.

What is claimed is: In a bracelet ziiirror, a rectangular base, a pair of arcuate bands hingedly connected to opposite side edges of said base, there being a slot arranged in the free end of each of said bands, a flexible strap having one end arranged in engagement with one of said slots and adapted to engage the other of said slots, a cover having one end hingedly connected to said base and including a frame, a mirror mounted in said frame, a finger-engaging lug projecting from said frame, locking means including an ear extending upwardly from said base for engagement with said frame, and stop lugs for limiting pivotal movement of said bands.
