TAG HOLDER.

Application filed March 2, 1923. Serial No. 622,399.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES A. ROBERTS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Butte, in the county of Silver Bow and State of Montana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tag Holders, of which the following is a Specification.

This invention relates to tags, and has particular application to a holder or fastener by means of which the tag is prevented from being casually separated from the object to which it is attached.

More specifically stated, the tag holder forming the subject matter of the invention is provided from a single length of material which is associated with the tag, and which terminates to provide a loop like terminal, the body portion of the holder being formed with a tongue and arranged to extend across the loop in a manner to prevent the tag from being lost or otherwise'casually separated from the objectto which it is attached.

In the drawing forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and where- Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a tag equipped with a holder constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 2 is an edge elevation.

Figure 4 is a fragmentary View of a modilied form.

Referring to the drawings in'detail, 10 indicates a tag of well known construction, which is associated with the holder forming the subject matter of the invention.

This holder is formed from a single length of any suitable material and indicated at 11. One end of the holder is provided with an opening to receive an eyelet 12 utilized to secure one end of the holder to the tag 10. The upper end of the holder 11 is bent upon itself as at 18 and this portion is reversely bent inwardly as at 14 thus defining a loop like extremity to slip theholder on any suport designed to accommodate the holder.

I he body 11 of the holder is slit obliquely as at 15 to provide a tongue or finger 16 which "claim is bent to extend diagonally across the loop I at one side thereof. The tongue is sufliciently ing received by the loop above defined, but.

after the holder has been associatedwith the support, it is quite obvious that the particular arrangement or disposition of the tongue or finger 16 is such that the holder cannot become casually separated from its support. The invention is very simple in construction and can be manufactured and sold at a nominal cost.

In Figure 4 I have shown amodified form of the holder, the latterbeing indicated at 11 and is provided with an opening 12 to accommodate an eyelet such as shown in Figures 2 and 3 for the purpose of associating the holder with the tag. However, this form of the invention varies from the preferred form in that the holder 11 is formed with a plurality of bendable prongs 13 which surround the opening 12, so that the holder can be associated with the tag by means of said prongs in contra-distinction to the use of the eyelet if so desired.

A tag holder formed from a single piece of material-having one end secured to the tag, the other end of said material being folded upon itself in a manner to provide an open loop, and a tongue or finger formed from the body of the holder and disposed at one side of the loop and diagonally disposed with relation thereto and adapted to engage the supporting means upon tendency of the loop to become accidentally disengaged therefrom.
