Description

A. KE SSLER. SCARFPIN HOLDER.
APPLICATION F|LED JUNE 7, 1918 1,348,120. Patented July 27, 1920;
$441M to z ALPHONSO KESSLER, OF DUNKIRK, NEW YORK.
SCARFPIN-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 27, 1920.
Application filed June 7, 1918. Serial No. 238,716."
To all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, ALPHoNso KnssLnR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dunkirk, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Scarfpin-Holders,
of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved device for application to a scarf 0r hat pin to prevent the pin from being casually withdrawn or detached, the object ofthe invention being to provide a pin holding device of this character which is extremely cheap and simple and-which can be readily applied to and removed from a hat or scarf pin.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a scarf pin holder constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention and showing the same attached to a scarf pin.
Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view ofthe holder.
Fig. 3 is a similar view showing a modified form of the holder.
Fig. 4 is a view of the holder partly in section, showing the same associated with a fragmentary portion. of a pin.
My scarf pin holder comprises a strip '1 of sheet spring steel or other suitable material and which is formed at one end with an opening 2through which a scarf pin may be passed, the said end curved as at 9 and arrangedat an angle to the body of the strip 1. At the oppositeend the said strip is bent to form a hook 4 which is arranged at right angles to the body of the strip and which extends therefrom on the same side as the end 3 the bill 5 of the hook extending transversely and being adapted to' be engaged with the pin so that the strip 1 is put under tension and the holder is caused to effectually and tightly grip the in at the opening 2 and also by the hook. The holder cannot become casually detached from the pin and hence the pin cannot bewhich it is used. I V
In the form of my invention shown in come casually detached from the scarf in Fig. '3 the holder is formed with a pair of oppositely extending bills 6 at the hook end 7 and either of which may be engaged with the pin.
Having thus described my invention, I claim A scarf pin holder comprising a flat piece of spring metal including a body portion arranged parallel to the pin, one end of the body portion being disposed at an inclination to the pin and having an opening for the reception of the latter said opening having its axis obliquely disposed with respect to the pin, the opposite end of the body portion being disposed at a right angle and terminating to provide a duplex hook, the hook portions being arranged opposite the adjacent longitudinal edges of the body portion for the purpose specified.
'In testimony whereof I afl'ix my signature.
iiLPHoNso KESSLER.
