L. -ML MAR R Shirts.
NO 14'9049- Parentedmarchsnmm.'
LLEWELLYN M. MARR, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPRGVEWENT IN SHIRTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. e), dated March 31, 1874;'application tiled February 19, 1874.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, LLEWELLYN M. MARR, of Boston, in the County ot' Suiiolk, Commonwealth of Massachusetts', have invented een tain new and useful In'iprovements in Shirts; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exaet description thereof,
that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the aeeompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which i'orm a part of this specification.
Figure lis a front view, with one of the bosoms turned down. Fig. 2 is a side view, partly insection, showing where the besoins are attached to the shirt.
Same letters show like parts.
The object of my invention is to produce a shirt or like garment which shall be provided with two or more bosonis or fronts, in order that when the outer bosom becomes soiled or worn it can be turned down, and another clean front exposed to view.
It may be thus described: A shows the shirt; B, the bosom attached thereto in` the ordinarymanner. C and D show supplemental bosoms or fronts fastened just below the lower end of the front B. These are attached in the manner shown--that is to say, one is fastened a short distance below the fastenings of the preceding' one, (see Fig. 2.) On the other or opposite ends of these supplemental fronts are holes, E, into which iit the buttons F, on either side 0i' the collar, when said fronts are thrown upward, as shown at D, Fig. 1.
When the outer bosom C becomes soiled from wear or otherwise, it is released from the buttons F, and allowed to drop downward, as illustrated in Fig. 1, where it remains hidden from view by the clothing of the wearer, and allows the next and clean front C to be eX- posed for wear. Then this front becomes soiled, it is released from the buttons F, and dropped down in the same manner as the one just above described.
A shirt of this description is exceedingly convenient and handy for travelers.
lVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A shirt or like garment provided wit-h one or more supplemental bosoms or fronts C D, when said fronts are attached and applied, substantially in the manner and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand.
