IMPROVEMENT IN GLOVE-FASTENERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 141,580, dated August 5, 1873; application filed June 16, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, LOUIS MEYERS, a citizen of Germany, residing at the city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improved Glove-Fastener, of which the following is a specification:

The object of this invention is to provide gloves, mittens, &c., with a fastener that can be easily closed and undone by the wearer, and Whose application to the glove will be convenient and not expensive. The invention consists in tting a cord through two eyelets on one of the flaps of the glove, and in fastening its ends to the inner side of the other flap, so that by -nally connecting the loop part of such cord to a button that is attached to the same ap to which the ends of the cord are attached the glove will be rmly and properly closed, while by disconnecting the cord from such button the flap may be drawn apart to the extent of half the length of the cord, which will be sufficient to open the glove for all practical purposes.

In the accompanying drawing, the letter A represents the upper part ofthe glove, one

flap, a, having two holes, b b, cut through itl, which holes may be lined with eyelets or not, as desired. B is a cord made preferably of elastic material, and passed through the holes b 1;,and fastened with its ends to the other flap d of the glove. To the same flap d, or at least to that side of the glove at which such flap is arranged, is also fastened a button, e, hook, or equivalent projection.

For closing the glove over the wrist it is only necessary to draw the cord B toward the ila-pd and button e, and to place its looped part or doubled end over such button, whereupon the glove will be entirely and satisfactorily closed.

For opening the glove it is only necessary to detach the cord from the button.

I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The glove-fastener, consisting of a cord, B, which is fastened with both ends to one flap of the glove and drawn through holes in the other ap to operate in combination with the button or holder c, as set forth.
