To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, NATHAN LIPPMAN, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Im proved Undergarment, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The present invention has relation to garments, and refers more particularly to womens undergarments.

The invention-contemplates for one of its principal objects to combine with an envelope chemise a pair of bloomers to produce in effect a substantially one piece garment of highly attractive design.

The invention further contemplates the provision of an economically cut garment which effects a saving in material and the ultimate cost to the consumer in the purchase of two garments.

A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a combination undergarment which includes an upper body covering portion and lower leg covering portions provided with a crotch opening, said upper garment having depending closure flaps adapted for detachable association with each other and with the leg covering portions.

iVith the above recited and other objects in view the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as set forth in the following specification. pointed out in the appended claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a garment constructed in accordance with the invention, illustrating the application of the same in applied position.

Referring to the drawings by characters of reference the garment comprises an upper member 10 constituting a corset cover and 11 a lower member constituting bloomers or a pair of leg covering portions. The lower member or bloomers are provided with a. crotch opening 12 at the inner side edges of the leg members 13. A pair of depending closure flaps 1 are secured to the upper Specification of Letters Patent.

member 10 at the front and rear thereof, and the same are provided with detachable means of association with each other at their free extremities, said means being in the nature of separable fastening elements 15. Similar elements 16 are provided for securing the side edges of the flaps to the legs adjacent the crotch opening. The garment may be constructed in any desired manner, but in the preferred embodiment the same consists of front and rear members 17 which are of identical configuration, the same being cut from a single piece of material to form the upper member 10 and the legs 13 having the crotch opening 12 at the juncture of the inner side edges of the leg members. In practice the front and rear members are stitched to each other along their outer edges 18 and the inner edges 19 of the leg members. Preferably the lower portion of the leg members are provided with an elastic band 20 for effecting radial contraction of the same about the legs of the wearer to produce the bloomer effect. The closure flaps 14 are secured by stitching the upper edges 21 to the upper member of the garment immediately above the crotch opening 12 whereby the same will depend therefrom in a proper position to cover the same.

It will thus be seen that a simple and inexpensive, yet highly attractive and comfortable garment is provided which takes the place of two garments and performs the function thereof in a more eflicient manner.

While there has been illustrated and de scribed a single and preferred embodiment of the invention no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details as it is to be understood that variations and modifications which properly fall within the scope of the appended claim may be resorted to when found expedient.
