Description
J. P. WILSON.
- GARMENT SUPPORTER.
APPLICATION mEn "M241. 1920. RENEWED NOV. 2. I921.

INVENTOR A TTORNE Y8 PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES PATTERSON WILSON, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
GARMENT SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 14, 1922.
Application filed March 27, 1920, Serial No. 369,243. Renewed November 2, 1921. Serial No. 512,386.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMns P. WILSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented a new and useful Garment Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear,
and exact description.
It is a well appreciated fact that in garment supporters, and more particularly hose supporters, the tab carrying the button cooperating with the clasp to form a lock for the hose is sewn to the body of the supporting band. Due to rough or even usage the stitches at this point become quickly worn, with the result that the tab becomes detached from the supporting means so as to render the supporter of no further use.
Having this defect in mind I have invented a certain improved construction more par- I ticularly applicable to a hose supporter, although not necessarily limited to this adaption, in which the tab supporting the button to be associated with the clasp portion of this supporter is so suspended that it will portion of a clasp;
Figure at illustrates another form of clasp to which my invention has been adapted;
Figure 5 is a sectional side view thereof, and
Figures 6, 7 and 8 illustrate a perspective view of a portion of the clasp illustrated in Figures 4 and 5, a front and a sectional side view respectively of still another form of clasp.
In all of these views like reference numerals designate similar parts, and the reference numeral 1. indicates a conventional strap or tape of elastic or non-elastic material, as is most convenient. Associated in the usual manner with this strap or tape is a clasp 2, provided with a hinged tongue of any desired conventional construction, as has been illustrated in the various. figures of my drawings.
However, contrary to the conventional method of terminating the strap or tape 1 at the point of connection with the clasp 2, the strap or tape 1 is threaded through the same in any desired convenient manner, as has been also well disclosed in the drawings of my application, so that the same extends beyond the point of attachment with the clasp 2. Associated with the end of the strap 1 is a conventional button 3 cooperating with the clasp 2 in the usual manner to permit of securing the garment in applied position.
The button 3 may be attached to the lower end of the tape 1 in any desired manner, and it will be readily appreciated that no danger exists of the tab 4, formed of that part of the tape extending between the body of the tape 1, and the button 3, becoming detached from the body of the tape 1 by virtue of the fact that the same forms a continuation of the body of the tape 1.
It will readily be appreciated from the above that the defect brought out in the preamble of the specification is overcome, and it will also be understood that my invention is not necessarily limited to a hose supporter, but it mightwell be adapted to numerous other uses within the scope of my claim, such as for instance transposing the clasping,
members.
I claim- A garment supporter including a tape, a clasp provided with a hinged tongue secured to said tape, said clasp presenting a plurality of openings, said tape being threaded through said openings and around the point of hinged connection of said tongue to said clasp, anda button secured to the outer end of said tape and being adapted to co-operate with the tongue of said clasp.
