Specification of Letters Patent.
7 Patented Mar. 1, 1921 Application filed. May 17, 1920. Serial No. 381,806.
T 0 all whom 2'2, may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL B. KAHN, a citizen. of the United States, and resident of the city of Chicago,-in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuff-Links; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the acompanying drawings, and the numerals of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates more particularly to a cuff button constructed of a pair of buttons and a resilient link connecting them. In the past when a person desired his initials put on his cufl' buttons in the form of a monogram or otherwise it was necessary to have them cut, thereupon by an engraver. This would require a great deal of trouble, time, and expense. To overcome this objection I have found it desirable to provide a stock of buttons upon which letters involving the entire alphabet are stamped or otherwise secured.
It is therefore an object of my invention to provide a novel form of link to which any selected buttons may be attached.
Other and further objects and advantages will be apparent from the drawings and specification.
On the drawings Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a hand having a cuff thereon supplied with a pair of cuff buttons involving my invention.
Fig. 2 is an elevational View of my improved cufi buttons. v
Fig. 3 shows the end face of a button with a Japanese letter H stamped therein.
Fig. 4 is an end view of a detached button.
As shown on the drawings Referring now more specifically to the drawings, in which similar reference numerals denote the same features in the difierent views, reference numerals 1 and 2 denote a pair of buttons having letters thereon repre senting the initials of a persons name, the buttons having been selected according to a desired design with the proper-initials thereon. Buttons 1 and 2 are linked together by a selected designand having the proper letters already thereon to constitute the initials of their name. By using Japanese letters, I secure a neat, artistic effect and further, these buttons can" be readily made by a cheap stamping process, after the dies have been made.
I am aware that numerous details of construction may be varied through. a wide range without departing from the principles of this invention, and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.
I claim as my invention 1. A connecting link for cuif buttons comprising a resilient memberhaving a slit and a pair of eyelets defined by restricted necks, the cuff buttons being adapted to be snapped through said slit and through said restricted.
necks.
2. A connecting link for cufi' buttons comprising a member having eyelets defined by restricted necks-through which the buttons .SAMUEL B. KAHN.
