Description
GEORGE EUELL.
Improvement in Baby Walkers.
Patented May 7,1872.
wituwm UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE EUELL, OF GUTTENBURG, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN BABY-WALKERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 126,452, dated May 7, 1872.
Specication describing a new and Improved Baby-Walker, invented by GEORGE EUELL, ot' Guttenburg, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey.
Figure l represents a vertical central section of my improved baby-walker. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same. Figs. 3 and 4 are detail side views ofthe locks; and Fig. 5 is a detail vertical section, showing a modification in the arrangement ot' supports.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to a new construction of baby-walker; and consists in making the same of two jointed annular frames connected by braces and supported on legs, and in the combination therewith oi' a vertically-adjustable seat, which is set gradually higher to conform to the growth of the child.
A in the drawing represents the upper, and B the lower ring of the baby-walker. Both are connected by upright stays C C. Each of the rings is made in two equal parts, that are hinged together at a, and locked together at their opening ends by suitable spring-catches, as at b. The lower ring B is supported on legs D D, which are rigidly connected with it,
as in Fig. 1, and which may also extend up to the upper ring, as in Fig. 5. Caster-wheels E E are applied to the lower ends of the legs D D. A handle, F, cushioned at the ends, is applied to the upper ring, in the manner shown. A seat, G, is connected with the lower ring, and made vertically adjustable by means ot a screw, H, for the purpose hereinbei'ore intimated.
The rings are swung open whenever the child is to be inclosed, and are then locked together, confining the child, but allowing it full freedom of motion and action.
Instead of being circular, as shown, the rings may be of oval or other convenient form.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The two-part and hinged rings A B, stays C, castered legs D E, handle F, and seat G, all combined, constructed, and arranged as described, to form an improved baby-walker.
GEORGE EUELL.
