Description

ABRAHAMABRA'HAMS, 3
Tatented 80]). 19 1811.
Wi en e55 e5 UNITED" S'r'rns PATENT ()FFIGE.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHAIR AND CRADLE COMBINED.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM ABRAHAMS, of the city of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Cradle and Chair Combined; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, where- 111-- k Figure 1 represents the device when in position as a cradle; Fig. 2, when in position as a high chair; and Fig. 3, when in position as a low chair.
The letters used represent corresponding parts Wh erever they occur.
The part A is so constructed as to form either the head of a cradle or the seat of a chair, and is hinged to the part B substantially as shown in the drawing. The part B serves the double purpose of forming the middle part of a cradle and the bottom part when used as a low chair. When the device is used as a high chair it serves to elevate the bottom part. The part 0 serves as the foot part of the cradle and as a standard for a high chair. In the part A all the sides are stationary. In the part B the sides a a are hinged in any ordinary way to the bottom of that part and held in place as a cradle by a hook and eye, as shown in the drawing, or in any other ordinary way. In the part 0 there is a loose footboard, f, and hinged sides I) b also provided with a hook and eye, or their equivalent, to hold the parts in. place as a cradle; and the loose footboard fhas the ends dovetailed into the sides I) b in any ordinary way to hold the parts in posi- Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 119,071, dated SeptemberlQ, 1871.
tion 5 or the same may be held in any other customary method of holding.
In Fig. 1 the several parts A, B, and O are arranged and fastened together so as to show its use as a cradle standing upon rockers R R. It
may also be used as the back for a childs wagon by being attached to the running-gear in any ordinary way.
In Fig. 2 the parts A, B, and G are so arranged as to form a high chair, with the sides a a swung back under the seat and held by any ordinary fastening,- and with the part 0 having its sides also swung back and fastened, as shown in the drawing. 7 By hinging the sides of part B at the lower side of the botto1n-board and the sides of the part 0 at the upper side of its bottomboard I am enabled to get a broader foundation for the high chair to rest upon, and give it a more comely appearance.
In Fig. 3 the parts A, B, and O are used as a low chair, the part 0 is thrown back under B, and the sides I) b, hinged as aforesaid, come up over the sides a a. The low chair may be used as a nursing-chair if desired.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A cradle and chair combined, composed of the parts A, B, and 0, arranged with reference to each other, and operated substantially as described.
