My improved under-garment compr ses a unitary garment having an upper bust portion '10 that is formed of knitted fabric and a lower leg portion 11 of woven fabric, the said portions being united at the waist line and lower body portionsin a special manner. 7
The bust portion 10 is made complete and unbroken and may be provided with draw strings 12 at the extreme upper edge. e
The leg portion 11 is made up of separate leg members 13 that at the rear are joined together at the middle of the waist line only, as shown at 14, the portions below thewais't line being disconnected and normally overlapping, and'the said leg members are each joined to the bust portion 10 at the rear along the waist line'on each side of the ]l1IlC- tion 14 for an appreciable distance, as shown "iaassseia aa al ases ap i'icu-an r i a' Aug'ust'21, 191's. withstanding the relatively large hip struc: v
ture of the wearer. V j
The yielding character of the V-sha-ped extension 21 permits of the essentialy free opening of the junction, portion described,
in slipping the garment on and'ofl as de scribed. t r
In the garment shown in Fig; 5 a slitted structure is shown for the upper part ofthe bust fortion 10 having a set 12 of buttons and, button holes in lieu of the draw lld shaped extension 21 of the material of the bust-portion l0 extensions of other form may be used and also that such extensions may be provided at other positions than at the sides as shown.
Also other departures from the details shown may be made within the spirit of my invention.
For instance, the junction of the knitted upper portion and the woven lower portion may be made without sections that are straight and parallel to the waist line and in lieu thereof having a wavy or serrated form, comprising additional extensions of the one material fitting into recesses in the other.
In such case the entire junction of the two materials would be made up of two similar serrated edges joined together. As described, the bust portion 10 corresponds to what is termed a vest structure, and the leg portion 11 corresponds to a drawer structure, the two structures meeting at the waist line, and extensions of the material of the vest structure are provided and inserted at and below the waist line of sufficient extent to provide a yielding character for the waist line portion, so that the garment can he slipped on and off readily without the provision of buttons and button-holes and the like, and notwithstanding the fact that the waist portion is appreciably reduced relatively to the adjacent parts of the vest and drawer structures.
I claim as my invention f 1. An under-garment comprising a vest structure of knitted fabric at the upper end, a drawer structure of woven fabric at the lower end, and a waist portion intermediate the said vest structure and drawer structure, the said waist portionshaing 'eont'rrmous and unbroken, and appreciably reduced relatively to the adjacent portions of the vest structure and drawer structure, and the said waist portion below the waist line being composed of the major portion of the upward extensions of the drawer structure at the front and back that meet the vest structure at the waist line and each of which extends an appreciable distance along the said waist line, and the remainder of the said waist portion below the waist line being composed of integral downward extensions of vest structure that fill in between the extensions of the drawer structure and are of suitable size to impart a yielding character to the part of the waist portion below the waist line, whereby the said part below the Waist line will cooperate with the knitted portion above the waist line in yielding when in use.
2. An under-garment for womens wear composed of connected vest and drawers, and being fashion cut so as to provide a form fitting structure, having an enlarged bust portion and an enlarged hip portion relatively to the intermediate waist portion, the said vest being made of yielding fabric, the said drawers being made generally of non-yieldingfabric and being extended upwardly at the front and back of the waist line, and being connected to the vest at thewaist line, and the side portions of the waist portion being formed by material that is integral with the vest and'extends continu-. ously across the waist line, whereby a yieldingcharacter will be provided for the waist portion so: that the waist portion can be opened out substantially to the size of the said enlarged hip portion as the garment is slipped on and ofi'.
