Be it known that T, HENRY ZETOSCH, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York borough'of Manhattan, in the county and tate of New York, have invented a new and Improved Combined Undergarment and Jock-Strap, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. I

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved combined undergarment and jock strap arranged to enable the user to readily don or remove the garment, to provide convenient means for sanitary purposes,

and to permit removal of the elastic jock strap portions to allow laundrying of the garment without injury to the elastic portions.

In order to accomplish the desired result, use is made of an undergarment, provided at the abdomen with a cut-out portion of approximately triangular shape, with the apex at the crotch and the base approximately at the waistline, and a jock strap having a waistband attached to the garment and a suspensory member of approximately triangular shape and having its sides attached to the side walls of the said cut-out portion of the garment and having its base attached to the said waistband.

A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure, 1 is a front elevation of the combined undergarment and jock strap, the undergarment being in the form of a union suit;

Fig. 3 is a face view of the jock strap and two of the elastic bands thereof shown detached; and

.Fig. 4 is an enlarged cross section of the garment on the line 44 of Fig. 1.

The undergarment 10 with which the jock strap 11 is combined is illustrated in the form of a union suit, but it is expressly understood that the undergarment may be in the form of drawers only.

The undergarment 10 is provided at the abdomen with a cut-out portion 12 approximately of triangular shape with the base at the waist line andthe apex at the crotch 13. The jock strap 11 comprises a suspensory member 14, preferably of an open mesh fabric and shaped triangularly' for closing the cut-out portion 12 of the undergarment 10, and the upper edge of the suspensory member is attached to a waistband 15 sewed or otherwise attached to the undergarmentat the waistline thereof. The sides of the suspensory member 14 are sewed or otherwise fastened to the side walls of the cut-out portion 12- of the undergarment 10, and a sanitary slit 16 is preferably arranged at one side ofthe suspensory member 14 at the joint with the corresponding wall of the cut-out portion 12.

From the lower or apex end of the suspensory member 14 extend diverging back straps 20 and 21 joining the waistband 15 at the back thereof to properly support the apex end of the suspensory member 14 from the back of the waistband 15. The back straps 20 and 21 are sewed to the backof the undergarment 10, and in order to provide a sanitary ,back flap 22, use is made of that portion of the undergarment 10 defined by the back of the waistband 15 and the back straps 20 and 21. One side of this sanitary back flap is disconnected from the back strap 21 and the back of the waistband 15 is adapted to open at the junction of the back strap 21 with the back. of the waistband 15. A suitable fastening device 23 serves to open and close the waistband 15 at the junction of the back strap 21 as will be readily understood by reference to Fig. 2.

The undergarment is provided with a slit 25 which extendsupward a short distance from the waistband 15 at the junction of the back strap 21 with the waistband 15. By this arrangement the sanitary back flap 22 can be fully opened whenever it is desired to do so.

The waistband 15 is preferably made ofinelastic webbing except the side portions 30 and 31, which are made of elastic webbing and are preferably detachable by the use of press buttonsor other suitable fastening devices 32. By this arrangement the desired elasticity is provided along the waistline of the garment to pro erly sup-.

port the jock strap without exerting undue strain on the upper or shirt portion of the union suit. In case of drawers the yielding waistband 15 holds the drawers in position on the wearers body.

The back stra s 20 and 21 are partly made of inelastic web ing and elastic webbmgs or bands 33 and 34 detachable by the use of snap buttons or other suitable fastening devices 35. It is understood that the elastic webbings 30, 31, 33 and 34 are detached, when washing and laundrying the combined undergarment and jock strap, to prevent injury and deterioration of the elastic webbings. In case any one of the elastic webbings is worn out it can be readily replaced by a new one.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the jock strap forms a permanent part of the undergarment and a proper support for the suspensory member 141- is had from the waistband '15 both at the upper and lower ends of the suspensory member.

Having thus described my invention, Iv

claim as new anddesire Patent:

1. A garment, comprising an undergarment and jock strap, the undergarment having at the abdomen a cut-out portion extending from the waist line to the crotch, a suspensory member closing the said cut-out portion, a Waistband attached to the said undergarment and to which the upper edge of the said suspensory member is secured, and back straps connecting the crotch end of the suspensory member with the said Waistband at the back thereof.

2. A garment, comprising an undergarment and a jock strap, the undergarment having at the abdomen a cut-out portion extending from the waist line to the crotch, a suspensory member of open mesh fabric to secure by Letters .and having its sides attached to the side walls of the said cut-out portion, a waistband attached to the undergarment and to which the upper edge of the said suspensory member is attached, and converging back straps connecting the crotch end of the suspensory member with the back of the said waistband.

3. A garment, comprising an undergarment and a jock strap, the undergarment having at the abdomen a cut-out portion extending from the Waist line to the crotch, a suspensory member of open mesh fabric and having its sides attached to the side walls of the said cut-out portion, a waistband at tached to the undergarment and to which the upper edge of the said suspensory member is attached, and converging back straps connecting the crotch end of the suspensory member with the back of the said waistband, the said waistband being adapted to be opened at the junction of one of the said back straps with the waistband.

A garment, comprising an undergarment and a jock strap, the undergarment having at the abdomen a cut-out portion extending from the waist line to the crotch, a suspensory member of open mesh fabric and having its sides attached to the side walls of the said cut-out portion, a waistband at tached to the undergarment and to which the upper edge of the said suspensory member is attached, and converging back straps connecting the crotch end of the suspensory member with the back of the said waistband, the said back straps-being secured to the undergarment and the'portion of the latter intermediate the back straps being detached at one side at the corresponding back strap, the said Waistband being" adapted to be opened atthe junction of the waistband with the last-named back strap to provide a sanitary back flap adapted to be opened and closed.

5. A garment, comprising an undergarment and 'a jock strap, the undergarment having at the abdomen a cut-out portion extending from the waist line to the crotch, a suspensory member closing the said cut-out portion, a waistband attached to the said undergarment and to which the upper edge of .the said suspensory memberis secured, r

and back straps connecting the crotch end of the suspensory member with'the said waistband at the back thereof, the said waistband having elastic detachable portions at the sides and the said back straps having elastic detachable portions.

A garment, comprising an undergarment and a jock strap, the abdominal portion of the undergarment having a triangulat-shaped cut-out portion, the base of which is at the waist line and the apex at the crotch, a suspensory member of an open mesh fabric and triangular in contour, the sides of the suspensory member being attached to the side walls of the said cut-out portion, a waistband attached to the undergarment and to which the upper edge of the said suspensory member is secured, and back straps attached to the undergarment, to the crotch end of the suspensory memberand to the back of the waistband.

7. A garment, comprising an undergarment anda jock strap, the abdominal portion of the undergarment having a triangular-shaped cut-out portion the base of which is at the waist line and the apex at the crotch, a suspensory member of an open mesh fabric and triangular in contour, the sides of the suspensory member being attached to the side walls of the said cut-out portion, a waistband attached to the undergarment and to which the upper edge of the said undergarment intermediate the said back straps and the back of the waistband forming with the waistband back and the said back straps a sanitary back flap.-
