TOILET PAIL.
APPLICATION FILED AuG.28. I9I5.

TOILET-FAIL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 22, 1917.
Application led August 28, 1915. Serial N o. 47,793.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, SALLY M. SPENCER, citizen of the United States, residing at Flagstaff, in the county of Coconino and State of Arizona, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toilet-Fails, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to toilet pails or commodes, and it has for its object to produce a pail or vessel of this class having a cover, the said cover being equipped with a compartment for the reception of toilet paper.
A further object of the invention is to produce a toilet pail having a cover of improved construction, the said cover' being provided with a recess for the accommodation of toilet paper and with a lid to protect the same.
Vith these and other ends in view which will readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the improved construction and novel arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the invention, it being, however, understood that no limitation is necessarily made to the precise structural details therein exhibited, but that changes, alterations and modifications within the scope of the claim may be resorted to when desired.
In the drawing,-
Figure 1 is a view in side elevation of a toilet pail constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the plane indicated by the line 2 2 in Fig. 1.
Fig. 8 is a top plan view.
Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by like characters of reference.
The body 15 of the improved toilet pail is provided with a bail or handle 16 which is pivotally connected to said body at diametrically opposite sides thereof. The tightly fitting cover or lid 17 includes in its construetion a flat bottom portion 18, a dome-shaped top portion 19, a downwardly extending annular flange 21 adapted to fit telescopically in the upper end of the receptacle, and a circumferential laterally extending iange 22 adapted to rest upon and to extend slightly beyond the top edge of the pail or receptacle,
and to retain in position the flat-bottom member 18, the said cover being adapted to form a tightly tting closure. The cover is, moreover, provided with a handle 23, whereby it may be conveniently manipulated.
The dome or top portion of the lid or cover member is provided with an interior casing 24, the top and bottom members of which are downwardly and inwardly inclined with rcspect to the opening or aperture 25 in the dome with which said casing is connected, the inner ends or extremities of said top and bottom members 2G, 27 being preferably conneeted with the dome 19 and the bottom member 18, respectively, thereby reinforcing the construction. The casing 24 is made of proper' dimensions to contain a package of toilet paper, and at the outer end of said casing is provided a lid 2S, the same being hingedly connected with the dome 19. The circumferential 'flange 22 performs the double function of supporting the bottom member' or disk 18 in position, and of limiting the downward movement of the cover member with respect to the pail.
By the Simple and inexpensive construction herein described a toilet pail is provided having a tightly fitting lid equipped with a convenient receptacle in which a package of toilet paper may be stored in suoli a way as to be readily accessible for use when required.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is z- A toiletpail including a body, and a closure for said body, said closure comprising a metallic sheet, the margin of which is formed to provide an annular flange for snug engagement with the upper inner periphery of the body, a circumferential flange pressed in said sheet immediately above the annular flange to limit the movement of the closure in the body, and a flat'disk or bottom member supported by said circumferential iange, the intermediate portion of the sheet being bulged to provide a casing adapted to receive toilet articles, a door being hinged on said casing to afford access to the contents.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SALLY M. SPENCER.
