ANTISEPTIC DRINKING-CUP.
Application led December 27, 1912.
To ail yw/wmt may concern:
Be it known that l, CLARA E. Sinner, a citizen of the United States, residing at lrwin, in the county of iVestmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful improvements in antiseptic Drinking-Cups, of which the following is a specification.
T his invention relates to antiseptic drinking cups; and it has for its object the provision of a device of this character which will include inner and outer cup portions and an antiseptic or germicide container interposed between the cups and communicating with the inner cup portion whereby the fumes passing from the solution may be freely circulated throughout the entire a-rea of the inner cup after each drinking operation.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a drinking vessel which will include an outer cup portion, and an inner cup portion, the latter embodying substantially telescopio sections and a lid removably fitted to the outer cup portion and having connection with one of the telescopic sections of the inner cup port-ion so as to cause said section to be projected beyond the upper end of the outer cup portion when the lid is removed.
lilith these and other objects in view, the invention consists of cert-ain novel features of construction7 combination and arrangement o-f parts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is a section taken vertically through the drinking vessel, showing the lid closed; Fig. 2 is asimilar view, showing the lid opened; and Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Fig. l.
The drinking vessel comprises an o-uter cup l and an inner cup 2, the lat-ter consisting of substantially telescopic sections 3 and 4c, the latter having a bottom 5, which is removably secured through the medium of a fastening bolt 6 or the equivalent thereof to the bottom of the outer cup. The inner cup has a length exceeding the length of the outer cup when the sections 3 and t are distended relatively whereby the lip embracing surfaces of the section 3 may be extended to a point where it will lie in such position above the upper end or rim of the outer cup to permit the same to be properly embraced by the lips of the user. The outer Specification of Letters Patent.

cup is provided with vertical recesses .7 wherein are removably fitted tubes 8 or containers for a suitable germicide or antiseptic solution, the tubes being preferably packed with an absorbent material 9, so as to permit the latter to be thoroughly saturated' and to prevent the liquid solution from being accidentally displaced. A lid l0 is designed to cover both the inner and outer cup portions of the vessel and is shown to be embraced by the walls l1 of the onter cup portion. A flange l2 of the lid extends in the direction of the npper edge of the section 3 of the inner cup and is adapted to engage therewith so as to hold said section in a collapsed condition.
A lifting element, such as the chain 13 is carried by the lid l0 and as illustrated it has connection at 14 with the extensible section 3 of the inner cup whereby said section may be extended to a drinking position and terminally arranged above the plane of the walls ll of the outer cup in the act of removing the lid. The flange l2 is provided with perforations l5, which may be broughtI into registration with similar perforations 16 at the upper ends of the tubes 3 so that direct communication is established between the tubes and the inner cup to permit the fumes of the antiseptic solution to freely circulate through all portions of the inner cup as is apparent. A lifting knob 17 on the central portion of the lid may be grasped by the hand so as to facilitate the removal of the lid from or the attachment of the same to the device, as is understood. When arranging the vessel in normally closed position, the lid is pla-ced immediately above the upper enges of the extensible section 3 and pressure is applied thereto so as to collapse the section 3 simultaneously on closing the lid.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention, as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is :h
l. A drinking vessel comprising an outer cup and an inner cup including relatively extensible sections, one of the sections be ing adapted 'to be projected beyond the open end of the outer cup.
2. A drinking vessel comprising an outer cup and an inner cup including relatively eXtensible sections, one of the sections loeing adapted to loe projected beyond the open end of the outer cup, an antiseptic container interposed between the cups, and a lid removably fitted to the outer cup and opening` into the container so as to establish direct connnunication between the inner cup and the container.
3.11 drinking Vessel comprising inner and outer cups, a lid closing both of the cups, and an antiseptic container carried by the vessel and communicating With the innerI cup.
t A drinking vessel comprising` inner and outer cups, the inner cup including` telescopic sections and a. lid closingl both of the cups and having communication with noezeee one of the telescopic sectionsI of the inner cup so as to move the section through the open end of the outer cup when adjusting the lid to an opened position.
5. A drinking` vessel comprising inner and outer cups, the inner cup including telescopic sections and a lid closing both of the cups and having communication with one of the telescopic sections of the inner cup so as to move the section through the open end of the outer cup when adjusting the lid to an opened position, and an antiseptic container carried by the vessel and communicating With the inner cup When the lid is in a closed position.
In testimony whereof I atlix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
