oHARLEs J. HAUSEN, or NEW YORK, N. Y.
HOSE-SUPPORTER.
Specification of Letters Patent. l Patented Feb. 20, 1917.
Application filed March 2, 1916. Serial No. 81,658.
Be it known that I, CHARLES J HAUSEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Hose-Supporter, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.v
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved hose supporter arranged to insure perfect freedom ofthe wearers body and limbs without producing undue strains on the hose venting tearing the same.
Tn ordert'o accomplish the desired result, use is made of a flexible supporting member, preferably in the form of an elastic band, attached at its ends to the front and rear of the corset or similar garment, a loop attached to the garment intermediate the attachment of the band ends, the said bands slidingly engaging said loop to form two depending V-shaped portions, and hose clasps provided with pivoted loops slidingly engaging the said depending band portions at the apeXes thereof. i
A practical embodiment of the invention is'represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specilication, in which simil-ar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hose supporter as applied;
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the same with the parts in position when the wearer is walking;
Fig. 3 is a rear perspective view of the' same as applied;
Fig. 4 is an enlarged face View tion of the middle of thel band en, ;agin,g,'` a loop; y
Fig. 5 is a front elevation of one of the hose clasps and its connection with the supporting band; and
Fig. 6 is a cross section of the same on and vthus preof a porslidingly The supporting member of the hose supporter is preferably in the form of an elastic band 9 having its rear end formed into an eye 10 engaging a segmental loop 11 fastened by stitches or other fastening means 12-t'o the corset or other garment 13' at the rear thereof. The forward end of the band 9 is provided with a lengthening and shortening buckle 14 of usual construction i to form an eye lengaging a segmental loop 16 fastened Aby stitches or other fastening means 17 to the garment 13-at the front thereof. A segmental loop 18 is attached by stitches or other fastening means 19 to the garment 13 intermediate the loops 11 and 16, that is', over the corresponding hip portion of the garment 13. This interme diate loop 18 is slidingly engaged by the middle portion 20 of the band 9 and by reference to the drawings it will be noticed that the loops 11 and 16-are inclined toward each other, that is, the loop 11 is inclined forwardly and upwardly and the loop 16 is inclined downwardly and rearwardly. The loop 18 is inclined downwardly and forwardly so that theband portion 20 freely slides in this loop on the wearer moving the limbs and body while vwalking and exercising. It will be noticed that by connecting the band 9 with the loops l1, 16 and 18 in the manner described, the band 9 is formed into two depending V-shaped portions 21 and 22, each slidingly engaging a segmental loop 23 of a hose clasp 24 for connection with the hose^25 to be supported.
Each of the hose clasps 21 is preferably of the construction more fully shown and described in the` applications for Letters Patent of the United States, No. 833,691 and No. 2,141, filed by me April 22, 1914, and January 14, 1915, respectively.
Each hose clasp 24 consists of a plate 26 having a sidewise extending slot 27 adapted to be engaged by a button 28 for clamping the hose material in position on the plate 26. The button 28 is attached to a tape l29 secured at its vupper end to an eye 30 formed on the top of the plate 26. The loop 23 has its ends pivotally connected with the plate 26 intermediate the slot 27 and the eye 30 so that the loop 23 has a free swinging movement and the hose portion 21 or 22 has a free sliding movement on the segmental loop 23. The eyesl in which the ends of loop 23 are pivoted are of suiiicient size tov permit the swinging movement of the loop.
It will be noticed that by the arrangement described, the band 9 is free to slide through the loops 18'and 23 and is free to slide on the loops 11 and "16 so that the band -9 readily adapts itself to the movement of the an undue strain on the hose clasps and consimilar traveling action of the ends of the band 19 takes place in the loops'll and 16 owing to their particular inclination in the manner above set forth.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A hose ,supporter comprising a flexible supporting member, obliquely disposed means for movably attaching the ends of said member to a corset or like garment at the front and rear of the garment, a loop flexibly secured to the garment at its hips in an oblique position and slidably engaged by the said supporting member to form front and rear dependmg portions, clasps adapted to engage the hose, loops pivotally mounted on said clasps and slidably engaging said depending portions-of the flexible supporting members.
2. A hose supporter comprising a flexible supporting web, means for movably at-4 taching the front and rear ends of the same to a corset or like garment at the front andl rear ofthe garment,-a segmental loop flexibly secured to the garment at the hips in an oblique position and slidably engaged by the said supporting member to form front and rear depending portions, and clasps adapted to-engage the hose, said clasps havin a segmental loop provided with rounded si es andl pivotally secured to the clasps, said loops slidably engaging said depending portions of the flexible supporting member.
3'. A hose supporter comprising a flexible supporting member including front and rear angular pendent portions, and a clasp for4 engaging the hose and slidably engaging the endent portions at their apices said clasps including a segmental open loop pivotally two subscribing secured tothe clasp and having rounded sides.
4. Ahose supporter comprising an elastic band and a corset or like garment, separate means for movably attaching the ends of the band to the corset or like garment at the front and rear of the corset, said attaching ment at points adjacent a vertical plane dening the Vertical median line of the garment, said attaching meansbeing oppositely inclined to permit the band to converge downwardly and lie smooth in converging position and allow the band to slide easily, a segmental loop attached to the garment at the hipportion and inclined forwardlyI and upwardly the middle portion of said band slidably engaging said hip loop and forming two pendent V-shaped portions, and clasps adapted to engage the hose and having a sliding connection with the said pendent band portions at the apices thereof.
5. A hose supporter comprising an elastic band for attachment to a corset or like garment, separate means for movably attaching the ends of the band to the garment at its front and rear, said means iexibly attached to the front and rear of the garment at points adjacent a vertical plane defining the vertical median line of the garment and consisting of a pair of oppositely inclined segmental loops whereby the end portions of the band are permitted to converge downwardly and lie smooth in converging p0si tion, a segmental loop ileXibly connected to the garment at its hip portion and substantially midway between the Jfront and rear segmental loops, said hip loop being inclined forwardly and upwardly and receiving and guiding the band to form front and rear pendent V-shaped members, and clasps slidably carriedv at the apices of the `V-shaped members.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of witnesses. l CHARLES J. HAUSEN.
