Application filed September 14, 1916.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, DANIEL Kors, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Apparel-Corsets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an apparel corset and more particularly to coacting devices associated with an apparel corset to retain the flesh immediately above the upper rear portion of the corset and to confine and support the busts of the wearer.
As is generally known, the flesh of stout women at' the back often times extends over the upper edge of the corset` and 1n some instances sufliciently so to be noticeable through the clothing. I am aware, that heretofore, various devices have been employed in connection with a corset to retain this flesh in position. I am also aware, that heretofore, variously constructed bust forms have been associated with corset garments. So far as I am aware, however, no association or connection between the back flesh retainers and the bust forms has ever been attempted. The object of my present invention, is, therefore, an apparel corset in which there are employed back flesh retainers, together with bust forms, and means for connecting the same so that these parts of the garment may be simultaneously adjusted and secured in position.
The garment made in accordance with my present invention, will be, hereinafter more particularly described.
In the drawing Figure l is a front elevation of an apparel corset made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same, and Fig. 3 is a front elevation on an enlarged scale illustrating one corset body half in which this invention is embodied.
Referring to the drawing, it will be seen that as is customary, the corset made in accordance with this invention is constructed in corset body halves indicated at 10. Along the front edges each corset body half is provided with clasps ll, by which the parts of the garment are connected'm front, and adjacent the rear edges these corset body halves l0 are provided with series of eyelets 12, through which suitable laces are threaded for adjusting .the garment to position on the body. As indicated in the drawing, this garment may be suit- Specication of Letters Patent.

ably stayed and also provided with hose supporters. These features, however, form no part of this invention. y
Inasmuch as each corset body half, and the novel features connected therewith are the same but one half of the garment will be specifically described. As indicated in the drawing, the corset body half 10 along the upper front edge is provided with a bust form 14. This preferably consists of a series of tapes or straps l5 secured at corresponding ends 16 to the upper edge of the garment. The other ends of these straps or tapes 15v are brought together so that the tapes converge, and at their opposite ends 17, they are secured to a loop 18.
At the rear each corset body half is provided with a back flesh retainer 19. This also preferably consists of a series of straps or tapes 20, which at corresponding ends 21, are secured to the upper rear edge of the lgarment in spaced positions. Ihese tapes 20, also converge, and at their opposite ends 22, are secured to one end of a shoulder strap 23, which may be made of suitable elastic or any other material. At
its opposite end, the shoulder strap 28, is connected to one end of a tie cord 24, and this tie cord 24, is passed through the loop 1S, in the bust form member of the same corset body half.
From the foregoing description it will be apparent that in the use of this garment after .the corset proper has been adjusted to position on the body, the ends of the tie cords 24, may be drawn together and tied so as to adjust and secure the bust forms and back flesh retaining devices in the desired position. It will, therefore, more be apparent that the bust forms and back flesh retaining devices being made of overlying straps or tapes adj ustthemselves to the body, not only when at rest, but in the movements and the various positions which the body of the wearer may make or assume.
I claim as my invention:
l. In an apparel corset and in each corset body half, a bust form projecting from the upper front edge of the garment, a back flesh retainer attached to the upper portion of the garment and extending from approximately the rear lacing edge toward the axillary line, and means associated with the said back flesh retainer and the corresponding bust form for adjusting the same to position.
2. In an apparel corset and in each corset body half a bust form extending from the upper front edge of the garment, a back flesh retainer projecting upwardly from the garment and extendingyfrom approximately the rear lacing edge toward the axillary line, and means connected to the back flesh y retainer and associated With the bust form for adjustably connecting and securing the same'in position.
3. In an apparel corset and in each corset body half, a bust form, comprising tapes secured to the upper front edge of the garment in spaced positions, and converging to a point in which they are connected together, a back flesh retainer comprising series of tapes secured to the upper rear edge of the garment in spaced positions and converging to a point in which they are connected, and means connected to and extending from the tapes of the back flesh retainer, and associated With the corresponding bust form to adjust and maintain the back flesh retainer and bust form in position.
l. In an apparel corset and in each corset body half, a bust form comprising a series of tapes, each secured at one end to the upper front edge of the garment, extending therefrom and secured together at their opposite ends to a loop, a back flesh retainer DANIEL KOPS.
