To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DANIEL Kors, a citizen of the United States, residing inthe boroughof Manhattan, city, county, and State of- New York, have invented an Improvement in Brassie-res, of which thefollowing prevalent low busted corsets. In the patent aforesaid I have shown and described a pad member for this purpose which is connected along its lower edge to the lower front edge of the brassiere or similar garmentand is secured in position therein so that the position of this pad member isdependent entirely upon the adjustment of the brassi" re'to position on the body of the wearer. Now, the object of the present invention is the provision of a pad member for use with a brassiere which is centrally associated with the front section of the garment and is adjustable to position with the adjustment of the garment to place so as to vary the tension on the pad and consequently the pressure exerted thereby against the underlying parts of the body of the wearer.

The brassiere in which my present invention is embodied isillustrated in the accompanying drawing in which:

Referring to the present invention, as

shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, the brassiere in which the same is embodied comprises a front member 10, which is continuous and adapted to act' as a bust supporter and which as illustrated may be made in sections 11, 12 and 13. This garment also includes a back member 14 made-in sections 15 and 16 and a corresponding back member 17 made in sections 18 and 19. One vertical edge off ithe back member 14: is fitted with a rein r forcing strip 2O in which there is a series oft eyelets 21. The adjacent edge of the front member 10 is fitted with a reinforcing strip 22 in which there is series .of eyelets 23. Laces 2% are threaded through the eyelets 21 and also through the eyelets 23 and are looped on the inner side of the garment and connected to oneend of a tie tape 25 as indicated at 26.

Similarly on the other side of the garment one vertical edge of the back member 17 is provided with a' reinforcing strip 27 provided with series of eyelets 28. The adjacent edge of the front member 10 is provided with a reinforcing strip 29 in which there is a series of eyelets 30. Laces 31 are threaded through the eyelets 28 and also through the eyelets 30 being looped on the inside of the garment, and one end of a tie tape 32 is secured to the loops as indicated at 33. The tie tapes 25 and 32 in this form of the invention pass through tape holes 35 provided therefor in a reinforcing strip 3i fixed in the lower front central portion of the garment, to which there may also be secured a strap 36 and a tie member or buckle 37 adapted to be secured to the corset or other garment to prevent the brassiere from creeping upwardly on the body of the wearer. As will now be apparent in the use of this garment when placed in position on the body of the wearer, the parts may be adjusted'by drawing the tie tapes and and the; garments secured in position by fastening these tie tapes to one another. In so doing inasmuch as one set of each of the series of laces 2i and 31 is adj ustably connected. in the straps .43 and in with which the pad is connected, the adjustment of the garment to position will also cause an adjustment of the pad to place so that the tension on the pad and consequent pres-- sure exerted thereby on the underlying parts of the body of the wearer may be varied, depending upon the tension placed on the laces connecting the pad member to the adjustable lacing devices which connect the front and back members of the garment to one another, these adjustments being made along the axillary lines of the garment.

The form of the invention shown in Figs.

' and 5, is similar in all respects to that shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, With the exception of the manner in which the pad memher is connected at its lower edge to the front central portion of the body of the brassiere. In the structure shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, hereinbefore...described, this pad member is connected to and adjustable at its ends with the lacing devices by which along the axillary lines thegarment is adjusted to position on the body of the wearer, whereas nfFlgs. 4 and 5, the same condition maintained with the additional adjustable feature of having the pad adjustable at the lower central portion thereof by associating the same with the tie tapes as hereinafter described.

Inasmuch as the structure of the brassierc shown in Figs. 4: and 5 is similar to that shown in the other figures with the exceptions hereinbefore noted, the same reference characters have been'applied to F at and 5 as those used to describe the structure shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, excepting however, the central member of the reinforced strap of the pad and devices by which at the lower end thereof it is associated with the .tie tapes. In Figs. 4 and 5, the central 30 reinforced strap or pad is indicated at 56. At its upper end this is attached to the front central portion of the body of the brassiere along the lines of stitching 57 or otherwise;

The lower end of the reinforced strap 56 5 however is not directly connected With the lower front central portion of the body member of the brassiere. ()n the contrary, at its lower end this reinforced strap 56 is provided with eyelets 58 and in positions similar to those of the tape holes 35 in the reinforced strap 38 so that these eyelets 58 and 59 may be so placed as to register with the eyelets or tape holes 35. In this structure the tie tape is passed through the eyelet 58 also through one of the tape holes 35, while the tie tape 32 is passed through the eyelet 59 and the other tape hole 35.

Also, in this form of the invention, instead of providing eyelets in the ends of the extension straps and 46, so that the same is associated with predetermined laces, I may employ as clearly indicated in Fig. 4:, clasp members, the parts 60 and 61 thereof bein separable with the part 60 attached to the os extremity of the straps and the part 61" being a loop through which one of the sets of laces passes. As will now be understood, this form of pad member with its attachment to the garment is adjustable not only at the ends thereof, but also atthe lower front central portion thereof, the adjustment being effected simultaneously with the adjustment of the parts of the garment to position on the body of the wearer, and by the same lacing devices and tie tapes by which this adjustment is effected.-

I claim as my invention- 1. In a brassiere or similar garment, ad-' justable to position on the body of the wearer, a pad member placed centrally to the lower front central portion of the garment and extending laterally to both sides thereof, and means for applying tension to the said pad member in adjusting the garment to position for use.

2. A brassiere comprising a front member, a back member means for adjustably connecting the front and back members to one another at substantially the axillary lines of the garment, a pad member secured to the lower front central portion of the front member and extending laterally there from, and means for varying the tension of the pad member to correspondingly vary the pressure applied thereby to the underlying parts of the body of the wearer.

A brassiere comprising a front member, 21 bac,. member, a pad member secured to the lower front central portion of the front member and extending laterally there from, and lacing devices for adjusting the front and back members to position along the axillary lines of the garment and simultaneously adjusting the ends of the said pad member to position to vary the tension .thcreon and consequently the pressure exerted thereby againstthe underlying parts of the body of the wearer.

A brassiere comprising a front mem-' ber, a back member, a pad member placed centrally in the lower front central portion of the front member and extending laterally therefrom, an extension strap secured to the respective ends of the pad member which at its upper end is secured to the body member of the brassiere and at its lower end is free therefrom, a series of laces passing through the adjacent edges of the front and back members with predetermined laces also passing through the adjacent ends of the extension straps of the said pad member, and tie tapes secured to the said laces and passing through the lower end of the central portion of the said pad member and also through the lower front central portion of the body of the brassiere so that in drawing the tie tapes together the front and back members are adjusted to position on the body of the wearer and sin'iultaneously the pad member is adjusted to position at its ends and also in the lower front cent rat portion thereof.
