Be it known that l, Crmnnns lllinivrnn, a citizen of the United States, residing in the 'ity of New York, borough of Manhattan, county and State oi New York, have'invented a certain new and useful Belt-Laced Garment, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to articles'o'f wearing apparel and more particularly to abdominal supporters with improved lacings for adjusting such supporters to the wearer.

The object'oi the invention is to provide a simple construction in belt-operated lacings, one which will be economical tomanufacture, and will be highly e fiicienti in its operation.

Aside from these objects, others,'as well as'additional features of the invention, will beapparent from the following detailed de scription when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

In the accompanying drawings 1 have illustrated different practical embodiments of the invention, but the constructions thereinshown are to be understood as illustrative, only,-and notas defining the limitsot the invention.

In Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings, 1 have shown the preferred embodiment of my abdominal support. It will be understood that the lacing of this invention may be associated with an opening in the garment, which extends either from one edge entirely to the other, or with an opening which extends from one edge only to a position intermediate with the edge/sot the garment.

It will benoted that the laces (Z are of different lengths, said lengths being so proportioned that when'the belt is pulledtight, all of said laces will be placed underthe same tension, so that the application-of power through the belt and'lacings for the purpose of adjusting the openings a to the desired degree isequalized throughout, and no one lace is placed under greaterstrain than any other.

The lacing of this invention differs from all prior art lacingsof which I am aware, in the fact that one end of each lace is permanently secured to one edge of the opening, while each lace is slidably connected with the other edge, inthe form of Figures 1 and 2, and has slidable connection with both edges, and permanent connection with one of them in the construction of Figures 8and 1. v

' Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: i

1. An article of wearing-apparel provided with openings at the sides; thereof, eyelets adjacent one edge of each side opening, a pair of complementary belt sections, a plurality of laces equal in number to the number of eyelets of one side 'opening,-each secured at one of its ends to one belt section, thence extended directly to and through one of the eyelets and secured to the opposite edge of the corresponding side opening, a plurality of additional laces similarly positioned and arranged at the other side opening and secured to the other belt section, whereby when the belt sections are drawn taut there is insured the placing of the desired tension on all of the laces for the purpose of simultaneously adjusting both side openings to bring the garment into conformity with the figure of the wearer.

2. An article of wearing apparel embodying a front member and a back member havother at the sides of the wearer, thereby providing substantially vertical openings in the garment, a plurality of eyelets positioned along one ot'theverticaledges of one of said members adjacent each of said side openings, a plurality of laces secured to the other member adjacent the other edge of each tion aflixed to each set of gathered ends whereby through the medium of said belt sections the lacings on each side of the garment may be simultaneously pulled so as to adjust the same and the garment secured to the wearer.

8. An abdominal support embodying a tront portion, and a back portion whereby openings are provided between the adjacent edges of said portions, complementary belt sections adapted to overlie the waist of the wearer and to have their free ends secured together, connections associated with said openings embodying a plurality of laces'one end of each 01 which 1s secured near one edge of one of the openings, said laces being thereafter 'slidably associated with the other edge of said opening and thence extended 1 to and secured to one of the belt sections, a plurality of additional laces one end of each of which is secured near one end edge of the other opening, said latter laces being thereafter slidably associated with'the other edge of the latter opening and thence extended to and secured to the other belt section, whereby, when the free ends of the belt sections are connected and are drawn about the avaist of the wearer, all of said laces are placed under tension for the purpose .ofadv justing the openings so as to bring the support into proper configuration on the wearer.

4.- An article of wearing apparel embodying two complementary body members having openings between them, a .plurality of anchoring devices positioned near and along the edges of one of said members adjacent each of said openings, a plurality of laces secured to the other member, said laces thereupon being extended over the anchoring devices positioned near the adjacent edge of the opposing member and thereafter returned upon themselves and their ends gathered, and a belt section afiixed to each set of gathered ends, said belt sections being adapted to extend across the body of the wearer and to have their free ends adjustably connected, whereby, through the medium of said belt sections, the laces secured to the garment may be simultaneously pulled so as to adjust the same and the garment thereby properly conformed to the wearer.

,5. An article of wearing apparel embodying two complementary body members having. openings betweenthem, a plurality of anchoring devices positioned near and along anchoring devices on the edge to which they are secured and their free ends then gathered, and a belt section afiixed to each set of gathered ends, whereby, through the medium of said belt sections, the laces secured to the garment may be simultaneously pulled so as to adjust the same and'the garment thereby properly conformed to the wearer.

6. An abdominal support embodying a front portion and a back portion adapted to overlie the corresponding parts of the body, leaving vertically extending openings between the lateral edges of said portions at the sides of the body, a pair of complementary belt sections adapted to overlie the waist of the wearer, connections associated with said openings embodying a plurality of laces, one end of each of which is secured to one edge of one side opening, said laces being thereafter slidably associated with both edges of said latter side opening, and thence extended to and permanently secured to one of the belt sections, a plurality of additional laces, one end of each of which is permanently secured to one edge of the other side opening, thereafter slidably associated with both edges of said latter side opening, and thence extended to and secured to the other belt section, whereby, when the belt sections are drawn taut about the waist of the wearer, all of said laces are placed under tension for the purpose of adjusting the side openings to bring the support into proper configura tion on the wearer.
