YOLE B'RIUSCO` DE IMLILGIVAI'L` OF BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA CORSET.
y Application tiled April 3,
To c /VZZ whom t muy concern.'
Be itknown thatl LYOLE BRUsCo nn MAG- NANI, subject of the KingA of Italy, residing at i28 Callao Street, Buenos Aires, Argentina, have invented certain new and useful y Improvements in Corsets, of which the following is a specification.
My present invention relates to a new corset its object being to provide a corset without busks or elastics of any nature the novelty thereof consisting in a special structure of the sides which allows perfect freedom of movements and a complete preservation of the line.
My present inventionessentially consists inthe fact that the sides are formed of a series of horizontal strips of cloth which are sewn to a single piece forming the back and at the vfront are suitably fixed to the adjusting strips, rThe edges of said side strips overlap each other, but are free, that is, they are not sewn one upon the other.
It will be easily understood that the special disposition of the horizontal strips allow a lengthening or shortening of the sides of the corset, according to the movements of :the body, as said strips slip one upon the other in the same manner as the scales of a fish.
ln order that my present invention be clearly understood and easily carried into practice a preferred embodiment thereof has been shown in the appended drawings, wherein n Figure l is a plan view of the corset; and
Figure 2 shows the corset as applied to the body.
Similar characters of reference denote same or like parts throughout the said drawinUs. y e
lPIhe back portion l may be formed of a sin le piece or preferably of a number of horizontal strips with their edges sewn together. l
The sides are formed by a number of hori 1924, n Serial No. 704,044.
zontal strips 2 which are sewn to the edge of the back as shown in 3 and at their free ends are also sewn to the securing strip 4. The horizontal edges 5 kof the said strips 2 overlap each other as shown. It will be easily understood, that the length of the single strips 2 will vary according to the configuration of the waist.
The securing strips 4 are as usual provided with eyelets 6 for the lacing strip 7 and also with elastic strips 8 each with its corresponding button `9.
Corresponding elastic strips'l() are also used as usual for the socks.
An inner wing member 11 fixed tok one ofthe securing strips 4 may be used so as to cover the free space between both strips.
It is obvious that many constructions and other changes may be introduced without def part-ing from the scope of my present invention which has been clearly set forth in the appended claiming clauses.
Having now fully described and ascertained the nature of my present invention and in what manner the same is to be carried into practice, I declare, that what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is.
A corset comprising a back portion; a plurality of overlapping strips secured `at one end to each side of said back portion; a securing strip fastened to each of the other ends of said overlapping strips; a wing member secured to one of said securing strips; a plurality of elastic strips fastened to the securing strips for fastening the lower ends of the securing strips together; and tightening means projecting over said wing portion for fastening the securing strips together, said elastic strips and the tight* ening means being adapted to secure the corset in place around the body of the wearer.
In testimony whereof I aiiX my signature.
YoLE Brusco DE MAGNANI.
