BRASSIERE.
Application filed February 17, 1921. Serial in. 445,642.
, To (ZZZ a 7mm it may concern:
borough of Be it known that I, VVALDEMAR Kors, a citizen of the United States, residing in the Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented anImprovement'in Brassieres, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a brassiere and more particularly to that type of brassieres inwhich there areincluded a front mem-; ber having extensions adapted to pass rearwa-rdly around the body of the wearer with tapes extending therefrom to be continued to the front of the wearer where the same front portion thereof," preferably at the are tied to adjust and secure the front member in position, together with a back member to which there are also extensions adapted to pass forwardly around the body of the wearer and to be connected through suitable means at the front of the body preferably attli'e waistline to complete the adjustment of the garment and to secure the same in position. In garments of this type, as heretofore constructed, however, it has been customary to employ one set of tapes extending from the front member and adapted to pass around the body and to be secured at the front thereof, and a second set of tapes secured to 'the extensions of the back member to be passed around the body of the'wearer and to be secured at the waist line. The object of the present invention is to so construct a brassiere that one set of these tapes 1s ellmlnated, causing the set of tapes which is employed to coact with devices connected to one of the mem bers for simultaneously adjusting the same to position with the adjustment of the member to which the tapes are attached.
To this end in carrying out the invention the brassiere made in accordance therewith comprises a front member with side extensions and a back member also provided with side extensions, together with a set of tapes connected to the extensions of one member and adapted to coact with devices attached to the extensions of the other member so both members maybe simultaneously adjusted and secured in position on the body of the wearer by the use of a single set of tapes as will be hereinafter more particularly described.
' In the drawing:
I F 1g. '1 1s a perspective view of a brassiere made in accordance with my'invention, and
Fig. 2 is an enlarged plan of the garment showing the front member as superlmposed upon the back member.
Referring. to the drawing, it will be seen that the brasslere made in accordance with this invention preferably comprises a front member 10 connected to a back member 11.
by suitable shoulder straps12and 13 or,
includes side extensions 14 and 15 from f otherwise. The front membergpreferably which there extend adjusting tapes 16 and 17. The back member 11 isalso provided with side extensions :18 and 19 and attached to and extending from the ends of these ex-.;
nected at the otherwise free end of the strap 20 there is a ring 22 andsimilarly connected to the strap 2lthere is-a ring-23. Also as illustrated the front member at the lower front central portion thereof is provided with a strap 24 to which'is connected a book 25 for attachment to the corset or other under garment to prevent the front-member from workingupwardly after being ad justed to the desired position on thebody.
As illustrated clearly'in Fig. 2"the"tapeber and the tape 17 continuing around the if waist of the body'and through the ring 22 and the tape 16 continuing around the body in the opposite direction and extending through the ring 23;. the ends of the tape 7 may then be drawn together simultaneously applying tension to the extensions of the front member to adjust the same in posi tion and. inthe opposite direction to the 100 .7
tensions there are straps 20 and 21. Conare passed rear- T i secure the parts As herein shown and described, the tapes 16 and 17 are attached to the extensions of the front member and caused to co-operate with the straps and rings connected to the extensions of the back member, although, as will be understood, this construction may be varied without departing from the nature and spirit of my invention. For instance the front member extensions might be caused to overlap instead of underlie the extensions of the back member, in which structure the tapes 16 and 17 would naturally be connected to the back member and the straps 20 and 21 and their rings 22 and .23 be connected to the extensions of the front member, when of course the adjustment would be effected at the back of the wearer.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a brassiere, a front member having portions adapted to extend partially around the waist of the wearer, a back member having portions adapted to extend partially around the waist of the wearer, the said portions of the font and back members being adapted to overlie each other at the sides of the wearer, and tapes connected .to the ends of one of the said members and adapted to continue around the waist of the wearer and to be threaded through and to coact with devices associated with the ends of the other member whereby in drawing the tapes and securing the same together the said members are simultaneously adjusted to position on the body of the wearer.
2. In a brassiere, a front member, side extensions associated therewith, a back member, side extensions associated therewith, the said extensions being adapted to extend partially around the waist of the wearer and to overlieeach other at the side portions of the body, tapes extending from the extensions of the front member and adapted to pass around the waist of the wearer, and devices connected with the extremities of the extensions of the back member and through which the said tapes are passed after extending around the back of the wearer so as to coact with the back member in such a manner that by drawing the tapes and tying the same together the parts of the garment are simultaneously adjusted and maintained in position on the body of the wearer.
3. In a brassicre, a front member, side extensions associated therewith, a back memher, side extensions associated therewith, tapes extending from the side extensions of the front member, straps extending from the side extensions of the back member, and rings connected to the said straps and through which the said tapes pass to simultaneously adjust both the front and back member to position and maintain the same in place on the body of the wearer.
4. In a brassiere, a front member, side extensions associated ther with, a back memher, side extensions associated therewith, shoulder straps connecting the front and back members, a ring connected at the extremity of each of the side extensions of the back member, a tape connected to one side extension of the front member and passing through the rin connected to the opposite side extension of the back member, and a tape connected to the other side extension of the front member and passing through the ring at the extremity of the other side extension of the back member whereby the tapes may be drawn at the front to simultaneously adjust both the front and the back member to position and maintain the same in place on the body of the wearer.
