APPAREL CORSEL,

UNITED STATES PATENT orrion.
AN K 5, 5. EW RK, Y'.
IAEBABELCOBSET- Application filed December 5, 1918.
To all whom 2'25 may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL Kors, a citizen of the United States, residing in the borough of Manhattan, city, county, and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Apparel-Corsets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an apparel corset, and more particularly to that style of apparel corset, shown and described in Let ters Patent No. 1,152,951, granted to me September 7th, 1915, and in Letters Patent No. 1,260,211 granted to me March 19, 1918, in both of which patents there are illustrated and described apparel corsets in which there are employed self-reducing straps and depending hose-supporters in conjunction therewith. In this style of corset it is customary to employ at the side of the garment a depending hose-supporter strap to maintain the lower and rear portions of the skirt section of the garment in a proper flat or smooth condition when in use The object of the present invention is to effect a saving in material by eliminating these additional straps by associating with the hose-supporter straps depending from the self-reducing straps, a tension strap which serves the purpose of these additional hose-supporter straps in maintaining the side and rear lower portions of the skirt section of thegarment in their proper positions, as will be hereinafter more particularly described.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an apparel corset illustrating my present invention, and
Fig. 2 is an enlarged partial elevation illustrating the lower front portion of an apparel corset in which the invention is embodied.
In the apparel corset in which this invention is embodied, the garment, as is customary, is preferably made in halves similarly constructed, and indicated respectively at 10 and 11. In each corset body half there are the usual front steels 12 connected by clasps 13, and each corset body half includes a depending skirt section indicated at 14, and in each half of the corset body there is also provided in the lower front section a self-reducing strap 15, and this as is customary, is secured along one edge in the body of the garment forward of the hip section, by a line of stitching 16 or otherwise.
p ifi a of Letters P te t-. Patented- Sept.v 30, 1919.
Serial No. 265,332.
At its forward or free end, each selfreducing strap 15 is provided with eyelets 17, each of which is adapted to engage a stud or hook 18 secured in the lower portion of the front steel in the correspond ing side of the garment, in order to secure the sell-reducing strap to position. Each self-reducing strap also includes a depending strap 19 to which is suitably attached a hose-supporter 21, the line of attachment between the depending strap 19 and the hose supporter 20 being indicated at 21, while attached to the lower extremity of the hose-supporter 20 is any suitable hose-supporter clasp 22.
As illustrated in the drawing, a portion of the depending strap 19 lies between a portion 23 of the skirt section, the upper edge of which is indicated at 2 1, and the underlying portion of the body of the garment, the lower edge of which is indicated at 25. The parts of the garment as hereinbefore described are substantially the same as those indicated in the patents to which reference has hereinbefore been made. In addition to these parts, I employ in this garment a tension strap 26. At its lower end, this tension strap is preferably secured in an angular position to the hose supporter strap 20 along lines of stitching 27 or otherwise, and at its opposite or inner or upper end, the tension strap 26 is secured to the skirt section of the garment along lines of stitching indicated at 28, which preferably correspond with the same lines of stitching in which the inner end of the self-reducing strap is secured to the body of the garment.
Now as will be apparent, in the use of this invention, the tension applied to the strap 26 will effect a circumferential pull on the lower side and rear portions of the skirt section of the garment to maintain the same in position when in use and the lower edge of the skirt section is free.
I claim as my invention:
1. In an apparel corset, a self-reducing strap at the front of the garment, a hose supporter strap depending from a portion of the self-reducing strap, a hose supporter attached to the hose supporter strap an appreciable distance above the lower edge of the garment, and a device attached at one end to the said hose supporter strap at approximately the lower edge of the garment and at the other end to a lower portion of the garment above the lower edge to exert a circumferential pull on the lower side of the rear portions of the garment.
2, In an apparel corset having a depending skirt section, a self reducing strap at the front of the garment, a hose supporter strap depending therefrom, a hose supporter derlying portion of the body of the garment and being unattached thereto, and a tension strap secured at one end to the hose supporter strap at approximately the lower edge of the garment and at the other end to a portion of the skirt section above the lower edge in order to exert a circumferential pull on the lower side and rear portions of the skirt section and to leave the lower edge thereof free. 7
Signed by me this 29th day of November,
, DANIEL KOPS.
