GARMENT-SUPPORTER LOOP.
Application filed December 17, 1915.
Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supporter Loops, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
My present invention relates to that class of garment supporter loops more specially designed for stocking supporters, an example of this type of garment supporter loop being shown in Patent No. 1,162,081 of Charles P. Kuehn, November 30, 1915.
The object of the present invention is to provide improved means for holding an elastic cushion or pad at the contracted lower end of the supporter loop and the invention consists in the improvements hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and particularly pointed out in the claims at the end of this specification.
Figure 1 is a front view showing my improved garment supporter loop in connection with a button-carrying tab adapted to cooperate with said loop. Fig. 2 is an enlarged view of the lower part of my improved loop. Fig. 3 is a view in side elevation of the part shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a view in cross section on line 4-. of Fig. 2.
The body A of the loop is of familiar shape and is preferably formed of bent wire, the upper portion of the loop being expanded to readily admit the button B and a portion of the garment to be supported. The button B is carried by a flexible tab 0 that is conveniently attached to the lower part of a garter pad or the like. The side members a of the contracted lower portion of the loop are united together at the base of the loop by a transverse bar a.
In the lower part of the loop is placed a pad or cushion D of elastic material, preferably soft rubber, and the means next to be described for holding this elastic pad in place at the bottom of the loop constitutes my present invention. As shown, the pad D is elongated and is preferably, although not necessarily, formed with the upper and lower expanded portions between which passes a retaining band E preferably of sheet metal, this band passing around the Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressingthe Commissioner of Patents,

By preference, the lower portions of the side members a of the loop are indented as at (t to more effectively retain the band E against longitudinal movement 011 the side members a and by preference also, the band E is indented as at 6 so as to cause it to snugly engage the contracted central portion of the elastic pad and to cause the ends of the band E to be drawn inwardly into the indentations a of the side members a.
Obviously, the precise details of construction above set forth may be varied without departing from the scope of the invention.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
1. A garment supporter loop having side members and having at its lower end an elastic pad mounted between said side members and a band extending around and out.- side of said side members above their lower ends and serving to inclose and hold said pad between said side members.
2. A garment supporter loop having side members provided with indentations adjacent their lower ends and having at its lower end an elastic pad mounted between said side members and a band extending around and outside the indented portions of said side members and serving to inclose and hold said pad between said side members.
3. A garment supporter loop having side members and having at its lower end an elastic pad mounted between said side members and a narrow band extending around and outside said side members above their lower ends and serving to inclose and hold said pad between said side members, said band being indented against thepad between said side members.
4. A garment supporter loop having side members and a bottom bar and having at its lower end an elastic pad arranged above said bottom bar and formed with thickened upper and lower portions and mounted between said side members, and a band extending around and outside said side members above said bottom bar and between the thickened portions of said pad and serving to inclose and hold said pad between said side members.
