Description

PATBNTED AUG. 13; 1907.
T. G. MASON. SUSPENDBRS.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. 27,1906.

THOMAS GABRIEL MASON, OF TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA.
SUSPENDERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 13, 1907.
Application filed August 27, 1906. $erial No. 332,221.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS GABRIEL MAsoN, of the city of Toronto, in the county of York, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, manufacturer, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspenders, of which the following is the specification.
My invention relates to improvements in suspenders, and the object of the invention is to devise a means for connecting the tabs to the straps so as to al low perfect freedom of movement of the body to any position, and yet make the device strong, simple and durable, and it consists essentially of providing the tab and strap portions with loops and connecting the said detachable loops by a circular coiled wire spring one end of which coil fits within the other, and is fastened therein as hereinafter more particularly explained.
Figure 1, is a perspective view showinga pair of suspenders provided with my improvement. Fig. 2, is a detail of the circular coiled spring.
In the drawings like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
A are the straps having the central back loop B of leather and the front side loops 0 of leather and adjustable.
D are the back tabs which have the upper loop D which is fastened into loop form by the button and button hole D and D as shown.
E are the front tabs which are connected to the front ends of the strap and provided with loops of leather or other suitable material, the ends of which are connected together by a button and button hole E and E respectively. The loops O as hereinbefore mentioned are also fastened or completed into loop form by buttons and button holes 0 and 0 F are rings made of coiled wire, the two ends of the coil fitting one within the other as indicated in Fig. 2, being preferably soldered or otherwise fastened. The loops are connected to the circular coils as indicated in the drawing, the circular portion of each coil extending through the loops at two points.
When the suspenders are worn, the circular coils F being resilient give and take according to the movement of the body thereby relieving the shoulders from any undue strain during movement of the body and effectually rendering the suspender comfortable in a maximum degree.
What I claim as my invention is:
In a suspender, the combination of the straps having the detachable looped lower ends and the tabs having the detachable looped upper ends and the circular coiledspring extending through the loops of the straps and tabs, and having one end of the coil fitting and held in the opposite end permanently, as and for the purpose specified.
THOMAS GABRIEL MASON.
