Be it known that I, CHARLES C. RyrnrsNY- man, a citizen of the United States of America, and resident of Des Moines, Polk county, Iowa, have invented a new and useful Link, of which the following is a speciication.

The object of this invention is to provide improved means for detachably yet securely fastening one object to another', such as a shipping-tag to a container'.

A further object of this invention is to provide an improved link formed with interengaging hooks.

My invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination ot elements hereinafter set forth, pointed out in my claims and illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation illustrating my improved device in use to secure a shippingtag to a milk-can. Fig. 2 is an elevation oi the link detached, on an enlarged scale. F ig. 3 is a detail elevation of the interengaging hooks, on a further enlarged scale.

11, 12 are parallel with each other and at 'right angles to the plane common to the straight end portions 15, 16. I prefer to make the engagement of the hooks 11, 1:7, such that they cannot be disengaged manually with the hare hands but will require the Specification of Letters Patent.

use of an extraneous instrument such as a pair of pliers, applied torsionally ot the end portions 157 1G to spring the hooks away from the portions engaged thereby coincidently lfor the removal of the link. rEhe link may be employed for the purpose oi securely yet removably attaching a device such as a shipping-tag 13 to a container' such as a milk-can la, or for any other suitable purpose.

The use of this device will be found quite convenient especially for the purpose described and will absolutely prevent all. accidental removal of the tag and will tend to prevent meddling therewith because of the diiiiculty of opening the link with the bare hands. The hooks on each end of the loop embrace the opposite end of the loop adjacent its hook, and when sprung into place will rmly hold said loop in closed position.

I claim as my invention- 1. As an improved article of manufacture, a link formed of a single length of round spring wire bent into substantially rectangular form, straight e'nd portions of the vwire being in a common plane longitudinally to Jform one end of the rectangle, said straight end portions of the wire terminating in hooks midway of said end ot' the rectangle, said hooks being joined to the straight end portions by integral inclined portions, one hook describing one-halt oi. a circle having an internal diameter equal to the diameter of the wire and adapted to embrace one straight end portion of the wire adjacent the other hook, said other hook describing one-fourth of a circle or' the same radius and adapted to engage the {irst straight end portion ot the wire adjacent the first hook, the radii of said hooks being in parallel planes at right angles to the plane common to the straight body portions.

2. As an improved article ot manufacture, a link formed ot a single length oi round spring wire bent into substantially rectangular form, straight end portions of the wire being in a common plane longitudinally to form one end of the rectangle, said straight end portions of the wire terminating in hooks midway of said end of the rectangle, said hooks being joined to the straight end portions by integral inclined portions crossing each other at right angles, one hook 4describing onen-half circle having an internal diameter equal to the diameter of planes at right angles to the plane common the Wire and adapted to embrace one to the straight body portions. l straight end portion of the Wire adjacent Signed by me at Des Moines, Iowa, this the other hook, said other hook describing ninth Vday of February7 1914:.
