Application filed August 10, 1915. Serial No. oasis.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ERNEST Lirrnn'r and dosnrri AMMANN, citizens of the United States, residing at Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Combination Ash, Match, and Cigarette Holders; and we do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a; full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent, in-
Figure l a side view of a combined ash, match and cigarette holder constructed in accordance with our invention and shown in closed position. Fig. 2 a top or plan view of the same in the open position. Fig.

on an enlarged scale. Fig. i a broken sectional view on the line c rt of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 a sectional view on the linee-f of Fig. 3. Fig. 6 a sectional view on the line gh of Fig. 3. Fig. 7 a sectional view of the parts shown in Fig. 6 in the closed position, Figs. 5, 6 and 7 being enlarged.
This invention relates to an improvement in combined ash, match and cigarette holders, the object being to produce a convenient device for carrying cigarettes and matches and providing an ash tray which may be folded intocompact form for carrying in the pocket, the device being especially adapted. for travelers use; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claim.
In carrying out our invention, we form the tray in two sections 2 and 3, which together form a complete tray, the sections being hinged together at the center and adapted, when folded, to be locked together by a clasp l. The meeting ends of the tray are formed respectively with flanges 5 and 6, the edges of which are rolled around a pintle 7 by which the two parts of the tray are hinged together; and mounted on the pintle at desired points, are feet 8 and 9 to which are respectively connected a ciga is formed in one of the knuckles on one member of the tray, and a corresponding notch in the adjacent side of the next knuckle in the other section of the tray; and between these two knuckles the foot 9 extends the sides or" the foot correspondingly notched or cut away to register with the notches in the knuckles of the traymembers so that the knuckles on the section will hear one against one side of the foot and the other against the opposite side of the foot when the tray is open so as to hold the match-holder carried by the foot in a vertical position.
It will be understood that the cigarette holder is mounted on the pintle 7 in the same way. It will also be understood that the depth of the tray is such that when the two sections are folded together, the cigarette holder and match holder will be inclosed as in a box; and the device, when closed, readily carried in the pocket or traveling case. As
herein shown, the corners 14: 0f the tray will be rounded to form supports for cigars or cigarettes.
We claim A combined ash, match and cigarette holder comprising two tray members formed with upwardly projecting flanges, said flanges formed with hinged knuckles, adjacent knuckles on the two members 'reversely notched, a pintle extending through said knuckles and hinging the two trays t0 gether, a container formed with a foot connected with the said pintle between a knuckle on one tray member and the adjacent knuckle on the other tray member, the sides of the foot notched to correspond to the notches in the knuckles of the tray members.
ERNEST LIPFERT. JOSEPH AMMANN.
