Referring to the drawings, and more particularly to Fig. 1, it will be observed that l have illustrated a portion of the body of an infant having arranged thereon a shirt 10 and a stocking l1. A diaper consists preferably of a casing, formed with two thicknesses of fabric sewed together at all of their edgesexcept the back edge 14. The fabric is preferably cut in the form of an Octagon, the front edge of which is vat 15, and the edges surroiinding the legs at 16 and 17 respectively. When the diaper is placed in position the edges 18 and 19 are arranged approximately over the loins and adjoin, respectively, thev edges 20 and 21, the iiaps 22 and 23 which are arranged on the latter edges being placed as shown 4in Fig. '1 and thereby closing the opening which would otherwise cXist at these points.

For the purpose of'securing the diaper in position, wit-hout the use of pins or other Amore or less dangerous fastening devices, I have provided the edge 18 with the ordlnary garter clasps 24`and 25 which are secured to straps 26 and 27, respectively. The edge `19 is similarly provided with clasps 28 and 29 which are secured to straps 30 and 31, respectively. The edges 20 and 21 are provided with any suitable form of attaching loops of devices adapted to receive the straps 26, 27, 30 and 31, and in the form oit the inventio illustrated these loops are provided lay-sewing along theedges 20 and 21, respectively, the tapes 82 and 35, having the free or lu'nsewed portions 33, 34, 36 and 37.

The diaper, when placed in position as shown in Fig. 1 is secured bypassing the straps 26 and v30 through-the loops 33 and 36 respectively and the clasps 24 and 28 attached to the shirt or other waist garment. The straps 27 and 31 are passed through the loops 34 and 37, respectively, and the clasps 25 and 29 are attached to the stockings. This arrangement, as will be readily understood, effectively secureshthe diaper in position and at the saine time holds the stockings and shirt so that the one set of fastening devices secures allof these garments. When the infant does not wear stockings, or when, for any reason, it is not desired to attach the clasps 25 and 29 to the stockings they may be attached to the tabs or straps 38 and 39, respectively, and thus secure the diaper. Thewclasp's 24 and 28 may be `similarly attached to the tabs 40 and 41, when it is notdesired to attach thenr te the shirt.

For the purpose of rendering the diaper waterproof I insert therein, a pad 42 of waterproof materialand 'secure this pad, without the use of pins, by means of a clasp 43 secured tothe pad and attached to a tab 44 Vbetween the folds of the fabric at the edgeA 15; and also by loops 45 and 46 through which the straps 26. and 30, respectively, are passed, as shown in Fig. 1.

Having thus .described the invention what is claimed as new is:

l. Ain article ofthe class described, coinprising a casing, having an open-edge, a waterproof pad arranged within the casing, readily detachable'rneans arranged within the casing at a point remote from said open edge and adapted to secure the pad to the casing, and means extending through said open edge for securing the pad.
