HAT-HANGER.
Application filed November 19, 1912.
To all whom, it'mag concern Be it known that I, JAooB MENDELSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hat-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hangers and more particularly to the class of hat hangers.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a hanger of this character in which a hat may be held whereby it may be displayed within a store window to the best advantages or may be conveniently held when not in use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a hanger of this character in which a hat may be held in varied positions, the hanger being adjustable to accommodate hats of different sizes.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a hanger of this character which is extremely simple in construction, strong, durable, and readily and easily adjustable and inexpensive in manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in a construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawing :-Figure 1 is a top plan view of a hanger constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the same. Fig. 4: is a fragmentary vertical sectional view thereof. Fig. 5 is a fragmentary sectional view on the line 55v of Fig. 3.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing by numerals the hanger comprises a resilient strap yoke 5 which is formed medially thereof with spaced holes 6 adapted to receive screws 7 Specification of Letters Patent.

which are engaged in a stationary support for the mounting of the yoke thereof.
Swingingly supported in the yoke 5 is a substantially oval-shaped adjustable band 7 the same being connected to the ends of the yoke by means of pivots 8 and in one end of the said band 7 are formed key-hole shaped slots 9 while mounted on the other end of said band are buttons 10 which are adapted to engage in the slots 9 for adjustably fastening the ends of the bands together whereby it may engage about hats of different sizes for the mounting of the same therein to permit the exhibiting of the hat or the holding of the same when not in use.
Swingingly connected to the pivots 8 between the ends of the yoke 5 and the adjacent portions of the band 7' are the ends of an arcuate-shaped strap 11 which is adapted to lie across the crown of a Derby hat so as to protect the same when held within the hanger. The strap 11 is adapted to be shifted at right angles to the plane of the band 7 when the hat is engaged therein. hen the hanger is not in use the band 7' and strap 11 can be thrown into alinement with each other and with the yoke 5 so as to occupy minimum space.
From the foregoing it is thought that the construction and manner of using the hanger will be clearly understood and therefore a more extended explanation has been omitted.
What is claimed is A hanger of the class described comprising a yoke, an oval-shaped band swingingly mounted in the yoke and having its ends adjustably connected with each other, and an arcuate shaped strap swingingly conneoted to the axis of the band.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JACOB MENDELSON.
