CHARLES W. T. DAVIES, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
BODY-GARMENT.
roeaoie.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 22, 1913.
Application filed June 29, 1910. Serial No. 569,553.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that 1, CHARLES WV. T. DAVIES, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at New York, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Body-Garments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to body garments.
My object is to provide means on body garments such as waistcoats, and pajama shirts, facilitating their attachment to the nether garment or the trousers to prevent displacement of their relative adjustments and gaping between their respective upperand lower edges, and to this end I provide on body garments such as Waistcoats, pajama shirts, and the like, on either flap thereof, near the front closure, one or more loops or the like adapted for the passing therethrough of the fore ends of the belt, draw string, or other fastener on the gar ment or trousers, to hold the upper and lower garments in easy connection when the fastening is completed.
In practice, it is preferable to provide a plurality of loops arranged at different heights on the flaps of the body garment so that, according to circumstances, a set of loops will be in proper position for the passing therethrough of the belt, draw string, or other fastening on the nether garment.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure l is a view of a waistcoat spread open, showing the loops; Fig. 2, illustrates how the belt is passed through the loops on a waistcoat; and Fig. 3, a similar view showing the use. of the invention on pajama shirts.
In Figs. 1 and 2, the waistcoat is shown at 1, the flaps of which are provided near the lower part of the front closure thereof with one or more loops 2 arranged one above the other, which may be variously formed, but preferably of tape caught at the points 3. I wish it understood that these loops may be constructed, attached, and arranged in various ways. The belt 4 which is carried by the nether garment 5 in the usual manner, as by loops thereon is, before the connection of its free end and buckle, passed through any desired one of the loops 2, as shown in Fig. 2, and the ends are then buckled together, securely holding the waistcoat and nether garment or'trousers together, obviating any gaping or relative displacement and yet being perfectly comfortable to the wearer.
In Fig. 3, the pajama shirt is shown at 6 and the nether garment at 7. The loops 2* are provided on the flaps of the shirt and receive the draw string 8 of the nether garment 7.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A body garment, such as a waistcoat, pajama shirt, or the like, provided with a plurality of loops arranged one above the other on the under side of the front closure flap of said garment near the closure edge, in such a position as to be adapted for the reception of the free end of a belt or draw string which supports the lower garment, so as to prevent the upper garment gaping upwardly from such lower garment, at whatever height the upper garment may overlap the lower one.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES T. DAVIES.
Witnesses Gno. L. CORWIN, JNo. R. FmzznLL.
