Description

Patentd June 3, 1913.
m m V m WITNESES d Auorkeys' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL HA GAN, OF NEWARK, OHIO.
HOSE-SUPPOBTER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June'3, 1913.
Application filed May 23, 1912. Serial No. 699,174.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL HAGAN, a citizen of the United States, residin at Newark, in the county of Licking and ta-te of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose- Supporters, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in hose supporters, and the object is to provide a pad which is received below the knee of the wearer to give the leg the appearance of being straight, whereby the trousers will hang straight and prevent the bagging of the latter at the knee. The upper end of the pad is COIlIlBCtt d to the undef wcar above the nee and a str 1 is connected to the pad which encircles the limb of the wearer and the free end of the strap is connected to a buckle which is attached to the pad. Connected to the lower end of the pad is a clip which supports the stocking or hose.
The invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings-Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of the invention.
.Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view of the'pad, and showing the flap folded over upon itself to disclose the manner of adjusting the length of the flap. Fig. 3 is a crossasectional view.
A represents the fplad which has a suitable covering 1 and a lin material 2, which filling material is o greater thickness throughout the-center of the pad, the pad being tapered from the center toward the edges and from the center toward the ends vproducing a thickness throu h the center say from one-half to three-fourths of an inch and tapering down to about one-fourth of an inch at the ends and sides.
Connected to one side is a strap or band 3 which is intended to encircle the limb of the wearer and the free end of which is adapted to engage with a buckle 4.- which is connected to the.opposite side of the pad. A; fastener or clip 5 is attached to one end of the pad for supporting the hose and a tab 6 is formed at the other end of the pad through which the pin 7 passes for connect-- ing the pad with the underwear thus assisting in maintaining the pad in its proper po sition upon the limb of the wearer. The tab 6 is made long so that the pad can be held at the proper elevation, by simply passing a pin therethrough'at the desired point and then fastening the tab to the underwear. The material from which the pad is made can be of an kind suitable for the purpose,
and the fillmg material can be of cotton wadding, felt, and the like. It will be seen" that a pad of this character having the greatest thickness through the center will cause the trousers to drape properly over said pad and to always hang properly and prevent the same from bagging at the knees.
Having thus described my. invention,
what I claim as .new.and desire to secure by I Letters Patent is- In a hose supporter, the combination with a pad of greater thickness at the center and tapering from the center toward the sides and ends, of means connected to the sides of Copies 6! this patent may be obtained for live cent: each, by addressing-the Gommhsioncr of Patents, Wuhlngton, D. 0.
