Description

A. M. ERB.
WINDOW SHADE AND CURTAIN POLE SUPPORT.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 26, 1912.
Patented Apr. 1, 1913.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ADA MAY EBB, 0F CONNELLSVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR 0F FIFTY ONE- HUNDREDTHS TO THOMAS C. DRUM, OF WEST NEWTON, PENNSYLVANIA, AND TWENTY ONE-HUNDREDTHS TO FRANK B. POTTER, 0F CONNELLSVILLE, PENN- SYLVANIA.
WINDOW-SHADE AND CURTAIN-POLE SUPPORT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 1, 1913.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADA MAY EBB, a citizen of the United States, residing at Connellsville, in the county of Fayette and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Window-Shade and Curtain-Pole Supports, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to window shade and curtain pole supports and has for an object to provide an extensible bracket which may be readily connected with a window frame and operatively supported thereon without the provision of permanent fastening devices.
Another object of the invention is to provide a support which may be initially ad justed upon the window and effectually held in such initial adjustment and then subse quently adjusted to effect its permanent anchorage to the window.
In the drawing forming a portion of this application, and in which like letters of reference indicate similar parts in the several views;Figure 1 is a perspective view of the support showing the application of the same. Fig. 2 in a longitudinal section therethrough.
The support comprises sections 1 and 2 and as illustrated each section includes an inner member 3 and an outer member 4, the latter being slidably associated with the former at one side thereof and being preferably provided with longitudinal flanges or guides 5 to receive the same.
The outer members 1 are provided at their outer extremities with integral spurs 5 whose extremities are inturned whereby they may be horizontally driven into the sides of the window frame as shown in Fig. 1. These members are also provided with integral forwardly extending brackets 6 each having a depending portion 7 provided at 8 with a recess or passage to receive the pintle of the shade roller and forwardly extending portions 10 that are constructed to provide upper concavities 11 to receive the curtain pole.
The members 3 of the companion sections 1 and 2 of the device are slidable longitudinally against each other. The member Copies of this patent may be obtained for 3 of the section 1 is provided with a longitudinal series of passages 12 which are adapted to interchangeably receive therethrough according to the longitudinal adjustment of the device which may be desired, a bolt 13. This bolt supports a lever 14 having a cam or eccentric 15 which is mounted in a passage 16 in the inner extremity of the member 3 of the section 2. From this construction it is evident that the bolt may be extended through any one of the passages 12 as to the longitudinal approximate adjustment which may be deemed necessary to an accurate association of the device with the Window. After the device has been properly set or adjusted the eccentric lever is turned manually so as to cause the peripheral surface of the eccentric to engage operatively with the walls of the passage 16 with a resultant relative longitudinal adjustment of the companion sections 1 and 2, causing the spurs at the outer ends of the sections to effectually take to or engage with the window frame and to effect the required anchorage of the device thereon.
I claim j A shade and curtain support comprising shade and curtain supporting members adapted for longitudinal adjustments relatively, an inwardly bent spur at the outer end of each member, one of the members hav ing a passage therein adjacent the free inner end thereof, and an eccentric on the outer face of the other member adjacent the free end thereof, and adjustable longitudinally thereon and having a peripheral adjusting surface extending through the passage and adapted to engage against the walls thereof for permitting of a longitudinal adjustment of the companion members, means pivotally mounting the eccentric on the said other member, said means also securing the inner free ends of both members together, the inner face of said eccentric snugly engaging the outer faceof the said other member.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
