Description

'H. SEEHAUSEN.
Curtain-Fixture.
N0. 166,56]. Patented'A ug.10,l'875.
WITNESSES} ATTORNEY? NJETERS, PNOTOLITHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON 0 C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HERMAN SEEHAUSEN, OF MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO GEO. R. G. JONES, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FIXTURES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,561, dated August 10, 1875; application filed July 7,1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERMAN SEEHAUSEN, of Memphis, county of Shelby and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures, ofwhich the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a curtainfixture, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which forms a part of this specification, and in which Figure l is a perspective view of a windowcurtain embodying my invention, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the curtainfastener.
A represents a window-curtain attached to an ordinary roller, B, having a pulley or flanged cylinder, (3, at one end, and having its journal hearings in brackets E E, constructed in any of the known and usual ways, and attached to the window-frame. a represents the curtain-cord, which is fastened with one end to the cylinder 0, and the other end of said cord is attached to thewindow frame or bracket at that end of the roller. The curtain-cord a is passed around a pulley, b, arranged in a metal frame, D, of any fanciful and ornamental design. This frame has a slot, :0, as shown in Fig. 2, to pass over pins 2' z in the windowframe, and be held thereon. By raising the frame D the curtain un winds, and rolls up the cord a on the cylinder 0, while by pulling down on said frame the .cord is unwound and the curtain rolled up.
Any number of pins z may be used, but four are sufficient, giving four points for fastening the curtain.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In combination with a curtain and its curtain roller, with cylinder at one end, the cord at attached at one end to the casing, and passing around the pulley b, and coiling at the other end upon the roller, the frame D having pulley b and slot w, and the pins 6, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I hereunto affix my signature this 3d day of July, 1875.
HERMAN SEEHAUSEN.
