justable shade roller and curtain pole support,,and as its primary object aims to provide means so arranged relatively to the curtain pole as to be first longitudinally adj ust ed thereupon, and, when so adjusted, to be clamped, through manipulation of suitable thumb screws, against the respective sides of the window frame or casing; this arrangement, as will appear hereinafter eliminating the use of nails, screws and like fastening elements, which mar and scratch the window frame.

The above and additional objects are accomplished by such means as are illustrated in their preferred embodiment in the accompanying drawings, described in the following specification and then more'particularly pointed out in the claims which are appended hereto and form a part of this application.

In describing my invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which V Figure 1 is a top plan view, partly broken away, illustrating the manner in which the combined curtain pole and shade roller bracket are attached or fastened to the window frame, the latter beingshown in section; Fig. 2 is a front elevation of one of the brackets; and Fig. 3 is a side elevation of one of the said brackets.

Referringnow to the drawings by numerals, 1 designates the window frame or casing against which the device comprising the present invention is arranged. Said device, in its preferred embodiment, includes a pair of duplicate curtain pole and shade roller brackets designated each as an entirety by the numeral 2. The detail construction of but one of the said brackets will be herein set forth. As is apparent upon reference to the drawings, said bracket comprises a base plate 3, an arm 4 and an extension 5, the latter being bent intermediate its ends to overlap or extend parallel with the sash-engaging face of the window frame, said extended portion carrying a set screw 6 ad ustable to serve as a fastening means whereby the said bracket is supported in proper place. A suitable collar 7 is integral with the arm 1, said collar being so positioned relatively to the window frame as to receive the curtain pole designated 8, a thumb screw 9 being adj ustable to lock or fasten the bracket against longitudinal movement independent of "the pole. A slot 10, of ordinary form, is formed within the arm 4 at a point between the collar 7 and base plate 3 to receive the extension of the shade roller designated 11.

In actual practice, the brackets 2 are first adjusted longitudinally of the curtain pole 8 to position the extensions 5 of the respective brackets between the adjacent faces of the window frame. When thus adjusted, thumb screws 9 are tightened to lock the said brackets immovable relatively to the curtain pole. Shade roller 7 being of proper length, is then fastened in a manner common to the art, the extensions of the pole or roller fitting the slots 10 therefor. Having thus been assembled, the base plates 3 of the respective brackets are disposed for engage ment-with the respective sides of the window frame and at the desired height, thumb screws 6 being then tightened or forced into engagement with-the opposite adjacent faces of the said frame to lock the entire device or the two brackets immovable relatively to each other and to the said frame.

From the foregoing, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it is apparent that the use of nails, screws and the like, which mar and injure the window casing, have been completely eliminated; that the brackets may be used in connection with window frames varying in width; and that by first adjusting the respective brackets relatively to the curtain pole, the latter not only serves as a lace curtain support, but also as a means whereby the brackets are held alined and in rigid relation to be fastened to the window frame through adjustment of the thumb screw 6 above noted.

In reduction to practice, I have found that the form of my invention, illustrated in the drawings and referred to in the above description, as the preferred embodiment, is the most efficient and practical; yet realizing that the conditions concurrent with the adoption of my device will necessarily vary, I desire to emphasize the fact that various minor changes in details of construction, proportion and arrangement of parts may be DTtGCl to, when required,-

Having hus fully described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. in a curtain pole and shade roller support, the combination with the curtain pole, of a pair of lrackets adjustably longitudinally upon pole, means locking said bracket in the desired adjusted position, the pole serving as a means whereby the brackets are held immovable relatively to each other, an extension upon each bracket engageable with the respective adjacent longitudinal faces of the WlllClOW frame, and means upon said extensions engageable with the said frame to lock the support immovable relatively thereto, as and for the purpose set forth.

2. In a combined curtain pole and shade roller support, the combination With the curtain pole, of a pair of brackets adjustable longitudinally upon said pole, means locking said brackets in the desired adjusted position, said pole serving as a means Whereby the brackets are held immovable relativcly to each other, and means carried by each bracket, said means being engageable With the Window frame to lock the support immovable relatively thereto, as and for the purpose set forth.

8. In a combined curtain pole and shade roller supaort, the combination With the said pole, of a pair of brackets adjustable longitudinally upon said pole, means looking said brackets in the desired adjusted position, the. said poleserving as a means whereby the brackets are held immovable relatively to each other, a base plate forming a part of each bracket, said base plate being engageable With the WlIlClOW frame, an extension integral With each bracket, said extensions being-bent intermediate their ends to overlap the adjacent longitudinal edges of the Window frame, and means adjustable relatively to said extensions and engageable With the said Window frame to lock the support immovable relatively thereto, as and for the purpose set forth.

4-. In combination With a curtain pole, supporting brackets therefor engageable with the outer face of the Window frame, each bracket being adjustable longitudinally relatively to the pole, means locking the brackets immovable relatively to each other and t0 the pole subsequent to adjustment, an extension formed upon each bracket, the respective extensions being engageable with the adjacent lateral faces of the Window frame, and means adjustable relatively to each extension, said means being engageabie with the WIlIlClOW frame to lock the brackets immovable relatively thereto.
