HARRY E. McCOY, F VANDERGRIFT, PENNSYLVANIA.
COMBINED CURTAIN-POLE SUPPORT AND CURTAIN-SHADE-ROLLER BRACKET.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRY E. MCCOY, a
citizen of the United States of America, residing at Vandergrift, in the county of Westmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Curtain-Pole Supports and Curtain- Shade- Roller Brackets, of which the following is a specification, refer ence being had therein to the accompanying drmving.
This invention relates to a combined curtain pole support and curtain shade roller bracket, and the objects of my invention are, first, to provide a novel fixture for adjustably supporting the ends of a curtain pole and a curtain shade roller; second, to obviate the necessity of marring or injuring the front of a window frame or door way in attaching fixtures thereto; and third, to provide a simple, du able and inexpensive fixture that can be easily cut or stamped and shaped from sheet metal, the fixture being finished to harmonize with the general appearance of a window frame or doorway in connection with which the same is used.
The above objects are attained by a fixture to be hereinafter more fully described in detail, and reference will now be had to the drawings, wherein there are illustrated the preferred embodiments of the invention, but it is to be understood that the structural details thereof can be varied or changed without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a portion of a window frame provided with the combined curtain pole supports and curtain shade roller brackets, Fig. 2 is a plan of aportion of the same, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of one of the curtain pole supports and curtain shade roller brackets.
In the drawings, 1 designates cornicepieces of a window frame 2, and to the outer vertical edges of these pieces are secured the fixtures adapted to support a curtain pole 3 and a curtain shade roller t. The fixture embodies two combined supports and brackets, and as the combined supports and brackets are identical in construction, with the exception of a small detail to be herein after referred to, it is only necessary to describe the construction of one support and bracket.
The reference numeral 5 designates an ob- Specificat-ion of Letters Patent.

long plate having the ends thereof provided with V-shaped cuts 6, and the material between said cuts bent forwardly to provide Vshaped prongs 7 adapted to engage in the edge of the cornice-pieces 1. The plate 5 intermediate the ends thereof is provided with a nail or screw opening 8, whereby the plate can be nailed or screwed to the cornice-piece. The plate 5 at the ends thereof is provided with front flanges 9 and 10 for engaging the front side of the cornice-piece, and adjacent to the flange 9, the forward edge of the plate 5 is extended, as at 11, and bentto provide guide flanges 12. The rear edge of the plate 5 is cut, at 13, and bent to provide a guide flange 14 adapted to aline with the uppermost guide flange 12. The plate adjacent to the front flange 10 is bent at right angles and provided with longitudinal parallel guide flanges 15, the obj ect of which will presently appear.
16 designates a metallic arm slidably mounted in the guide flanges 12 and 14, said arm having a plurality of openings 17 formed therein, while the outer end of the arm at the upper edge thereof is cut, as at 18, and bent to provide a supporting lug 19.
designates a curtain pole support hav ing the rear end thereof bent out of alinement with the remainder of the support, as at 21, to engage in one of the openings 17, while the support rests upon the lug 19 and against the outer side of the arm 16. The forward end of the support 20 is hookshaped, as at 22, to support the end of the curtain pole 3.
23 designates a bracket slidably mounted between the longitudinal parallel guide flanges 15, said bracket being provided with an apertured right-angular extension 2 k to receive the pintle at one end of the curtain shade roller a, said extension being similar in construction to the present type of curtain shade roiler brackets.
It is obvious that the brackets 23 can be adjusted to accommodate curtain shade rollers of various lengths, while the supports 20 can be adjusted to support the curtain pole 3 any desired distance from the window frame.
Having now described my invention, what- I claim, is
The combination with a window frame having a cornice-piece, a curtain pole and a curtain shade roller adapted to be supported from said pieces, of a combined curtain pole Patented Aug. 24, 1909.
support and curtain shade bracket carried. ings of said arm and the forward end thereof by each cornice-piece, each combined support and bracket comprising an oblong plate, said plate adjacent to the ends thereof being cut to provide inwardly projecting lugs adapted to engage in the vertical side edges of said cornice-pieces frontflanges earned by the forward edge of said-plate for engaging the front side of the cornice-piece, said plate having an extension bent to provide guide flanges, an arm adjustably mounted between the extension guide flanges of said plate, said arm having openings formed therein, a supporting lug carried by the forward end of said arm, a support adapted to rest upon said lug with the rear end thereof bent out of alinement to engage in one of the openhook-shaped to support one end of said ourtainvpole, a right angular extension carried by the forward edge of said plate and having longitudinal guide flanges, a bracket adjustably mounted between the flanges of said extension, and an apertured extension carried by one end of said bracket for supporting one end of said curtain shade roller, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
HARRY E. MeCOY.
