JAMES H. HULL, OF IR-A SBURG, VERMONT.
Letters Patent No. 102,547, dated May 3,1870.
IMPROVED WEATHER-STRIP.
The Schedulereferred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES H, HULL, of Irasburg, county of Orleans and State of Vermont, have invented certain Improvements in VVeather-Stops for Doors and Windows and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in whichfigure 1 is an'elevation, with section cut away to show peculiar construction.
Figure 2 is a crosssection. v
The object of my invention is to produce an effi- I cient and durable stop for doors and windows, and
one that does not easily get out of repair, while the cost of construction will not exceed that of others one purpose is to secure a stop entirely around the door, for a great objection to most stops in use is that .they can be used only upon one or two sides, or one the edge of the door when closed, and they may be used on one or all sides, top and bottom.
These stops are adjusted with'springs E E under or 1 hehind, them,. and with screws m m; these screws serve to keep the stops in place while they allow of regulating the stop to conform to irregularities in the door or casing causedhy warping, swelling, or shrinkv ing.
It is well, in using my invention, to put the stop in the door at the bottom and open edge, and in the casing at the back and top, as seen at O, fig. 2, but they may be used all in one.
For windows this stop is equally desirable.
, The operation of my invention is apparent from the I description, while the advantages gained are durability, ease of construction, and the complete stop, that is,.one that can he used on all parts of a door or win dow.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of stop 0, constructed asdescribed, with grooves K, springs E, and screws m, all arranged for a weather-stop for doors and windows, substan tially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing Witnesses. 1 p
