Buluş, camsı maddeden bir levha üzerinde kızılötesi ışınım yansıtıcı bir malzeme bazlı en az bir fonksiyonel tabaka ve en az iki dielektrik kaplamadan oluşan, her fonksiyonel tabakanın dielektrik kaplamalarla çevrelendiği birçok katmanlı güneş engelleyici yığınla ilgilidir. Sözü geçen yığın, 6 mm kalınlığındaki sıradan bir açık renkli soda kalsik float cam levha üzerine uygulandığında, %70'in altında bir ışık geçirim TL özelliği ve %45'in altında bir güneş faktörüne FS sunmaktadır. Buluşa göre yığın, fonksiyonel tabakanın hemen yanına uygulanan ya da bu fonksiyonel tabakanın içine dâhil edilen, Pd, Pt, Au, Ir, Rh, Ru, Os, Co, Ni, Cu, Cr, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, W, Si, Zn, Mo,Mn, Ti, V, Nb, Hf, Ta elementleri ve alaşımları bazlı, esas olarak metalik bir emici madde içermektedir.
