Abstract

Equistatin, tip 1 tekrarli thiroglobulin alanina dahil olmasi ve bir sistein proteaz inhibitörü olarak bilinmesiyle birlikte, ayrica proteinin farkli bir alani ile aspartik proteazi da inhibe ettigi bulunmustur. DNA sifreleyen equistatin ve inhibitör veya sistein ve aspartik proteazlar deniz sakayigindan Actinia equina'dan izole edilir. Equistatin proteini, Colorado patates böcegi, misir kök yiyicileri, yaprak sinegi ve kirpikkanatlilar gibi zirai ürünlerin genel birkaç böcek asalaklarinin bagirsak sistein ve aspartik proteazlarina özellikle etkilidir. P41 degismez zincir kismi bu ailenin diger bir üyesi olarak, sadece sistein proteaz inhibe etme etkisiyle, equistatin için bulundugu gibi, esit derecede sistein proteaz tamamlayicisidir. Birlesik equistatain proteini, Colorado patates böcegine karsi larva öldürücü olarak bulunmustur ve yetiskin kirpikkanatlilarin dogurganligini kuvvetlisekilde azalttigi da bulunmustur.
