The invention relates to foundry and can be used to improve the quality of aluminum alloys by treating them with modifying agents.
The aim of the invention is to improve the mechanical properties of cast aluminum alloys by grinding their structure.
The invention consists in introducing sulfur slime in an amount of 0.05-0.2% by weight of the melt into an aluminum alloy melt.
Sulfur sludge is a waste product of sulfur production and its composition includes 40-80% sulfur, 10-20% alumina and 1-5% bitumen. As can be seen from the table, the use of sulfur sludge provides, as compared with the initial alloy, an increase in strength of 1.4 times, plasticity by 75% with significant grinding of the structural components of the alloy, the size of primary silicon decreases by 40-50%, the eutectic from lamellar becomes fine-grained. Some improvement in alloy properties and structure

(S).Example. The modifier — sulfuric sludge — is introduced into the liquid melt of the alloy AK18 in aluminum foil with a bell at 730-740 ° C. The modifying effect is evaluated by the size of the structural components and the level of mechanical properties of the alloy, in particular, by tensile strength (0) and relative elongation (S).
The table presents data on the effect of modification on the structure and mechanical properties of the AK18 alloy in a cast state.
