Abstract
1487521 Registering sheets KOENIG & BAUER AG 2 Jan 1976 [17 April 1975] 00055/76 Heading B8R Sheets are transferred from an impression cylinder 3, Fig. 1, to an impression cylinder 7, Figs. 1 and 5, of a rotary printing machine by way of a reception drum 4, a transfer drum 5 and a transfer register drum 7, all of the cylinders and drums 3-7 being of a size to hold two sheets simultaneously and therefore each being provided with two rows of grippers 3.1, 3.2 to 7.1, 7.2. The drums 5, 6 and cylinder 7 are each provided with two toothed register pieces 5.3, 5.4, 6.3, 6.4, 7.3, 7.4, each peripherally and radially adjustable. The train of drums and cylinders is driven by meshed gear wheels. The drum 6 is peripherally adjustable about its drive shaft 6.5, being coupled to its driver member 6.9 by resilient couplings. The arrangement is such that as a sheet is transferred from drum 5 to drum 6 or from drum 6 to cylinder 7, the register pieces concerned are in engagement with others to overcome the effect of gear tooth backlash and the resulting mis-registration. A drive wheel 10 acts as a flywheel to prevent variations in velocity in the system.
