Abstract
1492809 Filling bags ETABS M CHAPUIS 14 Nov 1974 [28 Dec 1973] 49216/74 Heading B8C A bag filling machine comprises a filling spout 14 having two portions 1, 2 which can be moved together and apart to release and hold the mouth of a bag, and a bag guiding device 10 having a front guide 13 and a rear guide 11, 12, which can be moved towards each other at the same time as the spout portions 1, 2 in order to flatten the upper end of a released bag. Fixed front and rear guides 7, 8 which are aligned with the movable guides 11, 12, 13 when the latter are in their bag flattening positions, hold the bag upper end as the filled bag is carried away on a conveyer 9. The front guide may comprise a single U-shaped guide, as shown, or two longitudinally aligned U-shaped guides (13, 30) Figs. 8 and 10 (not shown) disposed upstream and downstream of the spout 14. The two U-shaped guides (13, 30) may be fixed or movable with respect to each other in the longitudinal direction. Pivotal fingers 3, 4, each of which may include three prongs when handling side-gussetted bags, operate to pull the bag mouth into a flattened state.
