Abstract

1,166,090. Filling valve bags. ERWIN BEHN VERPACKUNGSBEDARF G.m.b.H. 21 Dec., 1966 [4 Jan., 1966], No. 57194/66. Heading B8C. An apparatus for filling valve bags with fluent material comprises a tapered filling tube 1, the part of which is inserted in the sack valve being divided into two sections, at least one of which can pivot about an axis such as 9 to clamp the sack valve against clamping means 14. As shown in Fig. 1, the two sections 3, 4 are pivotable about an axis 9 under the action of a linkage 11, 12 and piston 15. The clamps 14 may be resiliently mounted. Fig. 3 shows additional walls 7, 8 which provide a conduit by which air expelled from the bag is removed. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 only one section 16 is pivotable, the other 15 being fixed. The section 16 clamps the bag against a pair of grippers 21, see also Fig. 6 (not shown). An arcuate plate 23 secured to the fixed section 15 provides an air escape passage.
