Abstract

The bag filling and closing machine is fitted with bag clamps (1) which grip the ends of the bag and keep the mouth of the bag open for filling. Two further sets of clamps are provided, one each side of the bag. The front clamp (2) is fixed, the rear clamp (3) can reciprocate sideways parallel to the conveyor belt. The clamps are operated by jacks and the backwards movement of the rear clamp draws the edges of the bag close together immediately after filling. Sealing or stitching is performed at the next station (14) adjacent to the filler.
