Abstract

1309440 Filling flexible containers HAVER & BOECKER 24 Sept 1970 [24 Sept 1969] 45650/70 Heading B8C Apparatus for filling bags includes a pair of pinch bars 25, 26, one located on each side of a bag being filled, and deflectable about horizontal axes 27, 28 between a fully open position, a closed bag pinching position and a slightly open position in which the bars guide a filled bag on a conveyer to a bag closing machine. A bag is fed manually, or by means as described in Specification 1,309,439 from a magazine, through guide 1 to feeler 3. Actuation of feeler 3 causes sucker 4, 5 to engage the mouth of the bag. Beneath each sucker is a beak 14 or 15 which clamp the bag and about which the suckers pivot as they open the mouth of the bag. The lips of the mouth are folded outwardly by pivoted arms (18), (19) while the bag is held by grippers 20, (21) at each side edge of the bag. The grippers are mounted on swing arms and transfer the bag into the filling station with the bag lying over pinch bar 25. As the bag is filled it falls between the opened bars.
