Abstract

1424182 Delivering sheets PACKOTOM BV 14 Aug 1974 [13 Sept 1973] 35742/74 Heading B8R Sheets 3, Fig. 1, advanced in underlapping formation by a supply conveyer 12 and an intermediate conveyer 13 are introduced between stacking conveyer 14 and the bottom of a stack 40 to be stacked on the conveyer 14 against a back stop 15. When no sheets are being advanced, or a gap occurs in the stream, a feeler 31, Fig. 2, rises and the conveyer 14 is stopped. When a further lot of sheets are advanced, depression of the feeler starts the conveyer 14 and energizes a one-revolution clutch to rotate a cam 26 and lower the downstream rollers 8 supporting the conveyer 13 into the position of Fig. 4 for a short time, so that the first sheet is inserted below the stack 16 without fouling the bottom sheet of the existing stack. If it is desired to bend the sheets laterally, the rollers 8 are supported on inclined members 19a, 19b, Fig. 4, hinged at 33 and angularly adjustable by means of arcuate rail guides 39a, 39b, the whole assembly being raised and lowered by means of the cam-actuated member 23. Figs. 4 and 3, this movement being allowed by sleeves 36 sliding vertically on posts 38.
