[Also in Division B8] A packaging unit of thermoplastics or thermoplastics-coated material comprises a container 1 having a lid 2 covering the opening thereof and resting against one or more supports on the container wall, the lid being sealed to the container by folding over the edges of the wall encircling the opening and fusing and consolidating them with the peripheral portion of the lid. The apparatus for sealing the container includes an electrically heated copper heat transfer device 22, Fig. 9, a container closure 20, and tubes 28, 29, for leading cooling air or water to the central portion of the lid.
