In Fig. 2, a U-shaped member 4a is sealingly anchored at an angle in the groove 8a and liquid injected into a recess 10 is led through passages 9 to the groove 8a to expand the member 4a so as to close the slot 3. When the supply of liquid is stopped, the liquid present in the groove is evacuated through the vents 7 and the member is deformed to open the slot.
