Abstract

1363546 Container closures ALUMINUM CO OF AMERICA 6 Sept 1972 [14 Sept 1971] 41397/72 Heading B8T A container closure has a top panel 12 and dependent skirt 14 affixable to the mouth of a container 30. A liner of resilient deformable material 20 provides a sealing surface. The top panel 12 has a rupturable line of weakness (28), Fig. 5 (not shown), extending across the centre portion of the panel 12 and through which the liner 20 is forced, as shown, if excess pressure builds up in the container. Venting is permitted at the same time past surfaces 32 and 34. After relief of excess pressure the liner continues to provide an adequate seal but protrusion of the seal 20 indicates venting has taken place.
