Abstract
A ferroelectric ceramic composition comprises a solid solution of lead zirconate and lead titanate in the mol ratio of 44: 56 to 35: 65 and 0.1-1.5 weight per cent of Cr2O3. Up to 10 atom per cent of the lead may be replaced by barium, strontium or calcium. The composition may also include 0.1-1.0 wt. per cent of Fe2O3. The composition may be prepared by mixing the constituent oxides or precursors thereof, grinding, sintering at about 850 DEG C. for about 2 hours, re-grinding, mixing with a solution of sorbitol or polyvinyl alcohol or a paraffin emulsion, pressing into discs and firing at about 1285 DEG C. for 45 mins.
