Abstract
A barium titanate ceramic dielectric composition has an atomic ratio of Ba: Ti within the ranges 0.98:1-0.9975: 1 or 1.001: 1-1.11: 1 and contains a significant quantity, that is a quantity of the same order as used in Specification 809,439, of manganous oxide. It is prepared by firing a comminated mixture of the oxides or oxide precursors in a reducing atmosphere at 1250-1350 DEG C. The proportion of manganous oxide may be 0.1-0.167 or 0.5-2.0 gm. molecules per gm. molecule barium titanate. In an example magnesium oxide is also present in the fired ceramic.
