Abstract

1,090,601. Escapements. CENTRE ELECTRONIQUE HORLOGER S. A. May 10, 1966 [July 29, 1965], No.20572/66. Heading G3T. A device for transforming oscillatory movement into a smooth rotary movement comprises a pawl 3 rigidly secured to a resonator 1 and adapted to rotate a ratchet wheel 5, a first magnetic wheel 8 adapted to be mechanically rotated by the ratchet wheel and a second magnetic wheel 10 magnetically rotated by the wheel 8, the two magnetic wheels being mechanically separated so that one of them may rotate independently of the other. A second pawl 6 is fixed to the frame of a watch and arrests the ratchet wheel when it is not driven by the oscillator. Both pawls 3, 6 have ruby pallets 7 and the wheels 8, 10 are preferably made of platinum cobalt but the wheel 10 may be made of a ferro-nickel alloy or soft iron. A toothed crown 11 of the wheel 10 is secured to a brass disc 12 and the coupling between the magnetic teeth 9, 13 of the wheels 8, 10 is weak, being sufficient to drive the watch gear train but small enough not to effect the motion of the oscillator when the wheel 10 is locked or is reversely rotating, for example when setting the hands.
