Abstract

1477215 Electronic timepieces SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 23 Aug 1974 [28 Aug 1973] 37212/74 Heading G3T In a battery powered electronic watch comprising a time standard oscillator followed by a frequency divider and an electronic drive circuit (not described) driving a rotary stepping motor coupled by a gear train to minute and hour hands, the period T of the drive pulses and hence the period of each step of the motor is arranged to be two seconds or more, whereby to minimize current drawn from the battery, e.g. a silver battery. In practice the period is a selected value between 2 and 3<SP>1</SP>/3 seconds and the speed reduction gear ratio of the gear train is chosen so that the minute hand rotates once per hour whatever the value of period T.
